A big thank you from all of us at Opera for valuable feedback between the betas.

Opera 9 Beta 2 Download

Next weekly should contain a lot more changes than the last few, since we don't have to be as careful as when we approach a release..

Oh, and the Mac version is rumored to support IPv6 soon wink

Well, if it is said that Beta 2 is the last beta before the final and assuming that the first beta was released almost 1 month ago, so, taking into consideration all that, we'll get the FINAL within the third decade of June?

Dennis-Hawks Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:01:11 AM

Thomas Chah Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:01:19 AM

What is the build?

Tomas Björklundflyingscanian Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:03:00 AM

Is there no changes whatsoever or why haven't you posted a changelog?

thobi Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:03:06 AM

Version: 9.00 Beta
Build: 8414

seems to be not more than the latest weekly with a new name.

slegg Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:03:49 AM

This is just renamed last weekly? (b8414)

Dennis-Hawks Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:06:06 AM

yes, this build seems to be good enough to become the Beta 2.

Thomas Chah Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:10:36 AM

I have the last weekly build 8414 inslalled.
The beta 2 is new?

Tomasz Urbanowicztomurbanowicz Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:12:49 AM

Pleas fix these bugs:
1. Bug no 206049 (http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=136011)
2. Wrong format in EXIF information of exposure time - ex.: there is 0,125; correctly 1/8 s.

PLEAS PLEAS PLEAS:)

Svoboda Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:18:24 AM

Yeah, this one was good, lads

Kyle Bakerkyleabaker Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:32:20 AM

I don't think this will be changed. Opera is just presenting the info as it is stored in the EXIF data.

Tomasz Urbanowicztomurbanowicz Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:43:41 AM

But in FireFox is OK.
In ShowExif (program) there is correctly too.

Licaon Tuesday, May 23, 2006 11:47:23 AM

selecting Opera 9 Beta 2 -> Slackware -> Download will redirect me to "Opera 8.54 for Windows"... not funny smile

Hahah, no wonder zonealarm didn't chuck a fit when I installed it, the md5 is the same because the program is the same

János, Vinczevinczej Tuesday, May 23, 2006 12:28:52 PM

It was a good choice, this version (b8414) to release for a beta 2. It is stable, and the widget maintaining is very charmed.

Willwar59312 Tuesday, May 23, 2006 12:42:49 PM

Whoooooooo!

Ahui886 Tuesday, May 23, 2006 12:55:04 PM

good job!

Heiko Niemannzuccaralloo Tuesday, May 23, 2006 1:04:48 PM

Wish you had fixed the SVG zooming feature for the Beta 2. It has been broken for two weeks now. :-(

ChristianResearchWizard Tuesday, May 23, 2006 1:12:52 PM

MSI installer showed only repair and remove. So I downloaded classic installer and updated the last weekly.

ŁukaszDro77naR Tuesday, May 23, 2006 1:29:08 PM

You didn't have to update the last weekly because it is the same build AFAIK.

Anthony GarrettAnthonyG Tuesday, May 23, 2006 1:36:28 PM

Nice for home use but it still doesn't go through our corporate firewall (it no longer errors, now it just spins and gets nowhere).

Fabio Antonio Esquivel Chacónfesquivel Tuesday, May 23, 2006 2:38:16 PM

What's the difference between the Classic Installer & and the US English setup, besides the download size?

searchme Tuesday, May 23, 2006 2:49:19 PM

Congratulations, and thanks for the explanation. A small suggestion, if I may. How about a comprehensive changelog between builds, so far as features fixes are concerned? I find the changelogs a bit spotty (highlights only) and not too specific, e.g.: I'm not sure the addition of file/open/web archive was ever mentioned, but I can't swear that it wasn't. As for bugs fixed, perhaps a list of numbers would allow those interested to find reports or discussion about the ones that bug them. (But it's not my place to speak for anyone else. I'm just trying to be sensitive to security/proprietary imperatives.) Thanks.

ChristianResearchWizard Tuesday, May 23, 2006 2:49:21 PM

@Dro77naR: yes, you are right. thanks.

@fesquivel: Opera introduced the MSI installer built into Windows (US English setup) and besides that the classic installer still exists.

Avesi Tuesday, May 23, 2006 2:54:07 PM

opera don't close macromedia pop-up

Ilya Birmanilyabirman Tuesday, May 23, 2006 2:55:00 PM

Why labs.opera.com don't link to Beta 2 in the "Latest downloads"? Why full changelog from Beta 1 to Beta 2 not available? Why no Beta 2 on snapshot.opera.com?

Jeff Schillerjeffschiller Tuesday, May 23, 2006 2:56:54 PM

As reported with the last weekly build, NTLM is broken. With it enabled, I just keep getting loading progress for pages and no page finishes loading (I've seen simple HTML page wrack up megabytes of loading progress).

I just disabled NTLM and it works fine now.

Alexandrmywapis Tuesday, May 23, 2006 3:01:23 PM

Two suggestions for Opera IRC-client:
- Limit output to XXX lines (remove older lines)
- Autorejoin on kick

Tolque53Tolque53 Tuesday, May 23, 2006 3:51:41 PM

Sorry that I have to ask again, because I am wondering.
Can anybody PLEASE confirm or not confirm this bug?

www.eurosport.de still does not work, because Flash plugins do not function properly there.
Go to the page, select something in the "Live Score" that should open a popup (which it does in Opera 8.54), like "Live" and then something like "In Kürze" - red link on the left.
No popup opens or even tries to open.

Sometimes, the flash there does not react on anything at all, Opera seems to nearly stall when it comes to the flash plugins on this page.

"What's the difference between the Classic Installer & and the US English setup, besides the download size?"

I would like to know this as well.

AnSONanson Tuesday, May 23, 2006 4:22:00 PM

In Opera 9 beta 2 me haywire pages www.motogp.com In O8.54 are OK.

brummi09 Tuesday, May 23, 2006 4:24:42 PM

if I click since 8393 on a address in a E-Mail, this is not opened.
Over the detour right-click --> open goes it then.
I also turned around the same problem. If I click in Opera on one E-Mail-Adress, nothing
happens - only again over the detour: Right-click --> write E-Mail
Still does someone have, or is with me the worm in it?
Please excuse my bad english
Ciao Jörg ;-)

I'm not sure if it was mentioned here, so if it was, I'm sorry. There is a problem with marking in emails. After marking some words the mark changes to the words above that which I've chosen. I hope you get what I mean

The same by me since 1-2 months.
Ciao Jörg ;-)

Ciao Jörg ;-(

By brummi09, # 19. May 2006, 04:16:35

Ciao Jörg :-(

@Jörg: you are not the only one who mentioned this bug. But we all were ignored... I hope in the future versions it will be solved.
And the problem with marking plain text as well...

...waiting for anybody to confirm my bug... sad

Michelkav2006 Tuesday, May 23, 2006 5:18:31 PM

In Opera 9.0 (all version) doesn't work !!! keyboard combination:

Ctrl+Shift in text field.

When I press this combination in IE 6.0, IE switch direction of text from "left-to-right" to "right-to-left".

It's very important for peoples, that are using Hebrew & Arabic!!!

Saulo Benignosaulob Tuesday, May 23, 2006 5:33:20 PM

ok, another one smile

Transfer window.

When you complete one file the Progress become: Done.

that´s fine.

but.. the bug:

When you move (to another folder) or delete this same file... the Progress become: Stopped.

can anyone confirm ?

thanks bigsmile

ŁukaszDro77naR Tuesday, May 23, 2006 5:37:16 PM

@HeeZy: It was written above - Beta 2 is the last weekly build.

@Tolque53 - I tried to click something in LiveScore -> Live but it doesn't work.

This bloody thing will still not close; it stays stuck in XP Home 2's tray; 98SE however it does not. When I hit X or Exit I want it to shut down. Just as it should! Pardon the frustration but it's irritating. -- Gölök Zoltán Leenderdt Franco Buday; http://www.being-ones-self.org/ -- "Delusion has been defined by some as a strongly held belief not held in popular thought, so essentially we have pollsters and pop-culture marketeers deciding what is delusional and what is clear thinking, not [even] psychiatrists." -- Black Jester, aka Gölök Z.
