Beta 2 and input methods on Unix

,

Briefly it was mentioned in the changelog for beta 2, but let me say it once more in full glory:

International input will now work again with the shared-qt version of Opera on systems where previous versions did not work.

That is, in other words, dead keys and input methods (needed for example for Chinese, Japanese or Korean input) do work again in shared-qt builds running on systems that have a Qt with the "qt-immodule" patch.

Enjoy! smile

op 9.00 doesn't seem to work with this site.

a) http://soft.winzheng.com/
b) type in "hello" into search field

compare with Op 8.54 which seems to work OK.

It still needs some more works, as you might notice. If you like to insert some words afterwards, after determining the CJK, focus goes not to the end of inserted words, but to the end of entire sentences. That's very irritatings.

And the worst of all is that all keyinput is impossible after focusing to URL bar and put a letter, for example "g", there.

You, Linux team will solve it, before Final, I hope.

What's wrong with the caching in the last few weeklies? It's almost as slow as firefox now.

No more instant back/forward. =/

Hello,

The most companies, schools … protect there Computers with Firewalls. Therefore, it is impossible to receive my E-Mails at school with the Opera Browser.
It would be great if the Opera Team implements a feature witch sends the E-Mails over Http to my browser.
Example:
I set my configuration for my E-Mail account and click on a button: E-Mails from Opera over http. Now Opera gets my information, establish a connation, and receives my E-Mails and send it automatically to my Opera browser in there own protocol. The same in the other direction.
Wouldn’t that be a great feature???...

Has anyone written about dropdown menu displacement in Mambo admin?
The menus just don't drop right downward but sideward and some out of screen. This is the case with at least Mambo 4.5.3 and 4.6. Any solutions to this?

Looks like Opera 9 have problems with an Asian style website's! Many times when I am going to asian websites the browser just closed from alone.

I am Using Linux Suse 10.0 Opera 9 build 284
6-shared-qt.i386-en.rpm and Linux Suse 10.1 build 284 with 6-shared-qt.i386-en.rpm ! I tried under Linux Suse 10.1 also the 5-shared-qt.i386-en.rpm with the same problems!

Jada0007, please start a thread in the proper forum, and give us as many details as possible (mainly `cat /proc/cpuinfo` and `cat /proc/meminfo`).

there is a problem on http://www.adobe.com/ check out the horizontal scrollbar. also there is a problem on http://tsn.ca/nhl/ the right column where it shows the tsn schedule should be at the top right of the page not starting at middle right. also there is a problem still on http://www.ufc.tv check out how messed up the text is over the images and such.
hopefully this MAJOR site viewing problems and many other site viewing problems will be fixed before final.

Thanks MisterE. If this is how it's supposed to work, then it's an unfortunate, but probably necessary(?) change. Shame, because I used to recommend Opera to people because of it's speed.

Many thanks for this fix.
International input for Portuguese/Spanish and other languages using á ã ó é and other characters was not working too.

It works now!
(the static version works fine for me too)

Geographic Information and Management System (GIMS; some flavors are called GIS) pages do not work properly.

On http://pwegis.pwe.ci.houston.tx.us/viewer1.htm , clicking and click/drag don't do anything at all, and none of the navigational controls at the left are selectable.

On http://scps.pwe.ci.houston.tx.us/bikeway/jsp/main.jsp , clicking and click/drag cause the page to be redrawn, but not with the correct zoom level. However, on this page, the zoom and directional clickable hotspots are functional, as are the items in the layers pane.

Both pages reported via Help, Report Site; also as bug 210299.

how does per site settings work???

I disabled cookies globally and the add site setting with cookies on for google.com and google.it. On firefox this way I can access to gmail and all other sites by google without problem. On opera 9 googles tell me I have cookie disabled.
So I removed all per site setting, I enabled cookie and I had access to gmail (still no chat interface I see.... that's bad). Through the cookie manager I've created per site settings activating cookies on the google pages I've visited and I disabled cookies again but still no access to gmail. Is there any way to make it work?

Widgets are useless, and in this beta are even more useless since they're displayed in the task bar. What's the use of a widget if it's only available when the browser is loaded? And moreover: 20% of cpu for a simple clock???? Samurize takes about 1% for the same thing!!!

Galrikh Friday, May 26, 2006 1:55:52 PM

This version is much crashy. Don't know whats the problem, but I surf on pages and suddenly Opera crash

mponik Friday, May 26, 2006 2:31:54 PM

Dear friends,
I have two problems with the latest build (8414). The first: I cannot sign in to this forum (now I am using IE6)
the second one is much worst. Opera fills all the memory (and locks the computer) either when it has 10 or more tabs open or when I am using in parallel IE6 for browsing thru Google pages (calendar, gmail).
Thanks for solving the problem

arekm Friday, May 26, 2006 3:23:31 PM

Exactly, how to close those flash pop-us? (not block, just close)

Test case is here:

By Opera Software.
You might have noticed we've made http://my.opera.com/olekasper/blog/show.dml/266546 to the My Opera pages. Along with these changes is a new login system. If you are having troubles logging in, please be sure to delete your My Opera cookies.

qtconfig to 'Over The Spot' solves the 'g' entry to URL bar issue, which might be my pet bug.
Still have that issue, set to 'On The Spot'. But change to another user and start Opera, I don't have it. Import huge mail directory from my daily ~/.opera, that user's Opera is affected it.
Can't find the reason for now.

Inputting chars with accents via Compose combinations works only for constituent chars that are accessed without Shift.
That is I can compose æ (Compose+a+e) but not ï (Compose+i+", copied from elsewhere).

Already reported, forgot the bug#.
