The saga continues... 9.01

, ,

It's been a short month since we released 9.0 and we think it's soon time to let the rest of our users take part in the polishing we've worked on since then.

This isn't a release candidate, but it's not too far away either, so make sure your voice is heard sing, especially if you find a regression since 9.0.

Happy bug hunting!

Mac link at top of page is downloading previous build.

MrFrodo Friday, July 14, 2006 3:41:01 PM

After posting the above, and the page refreshed, I didn't see my post. I had to refresh again to see it.

Alexis DeveriaFyrd Friday, July 14, 2006 3:44:07 PM

@MrFrodo:

Thanks for that notice, I was just about to leave a comment about not noticing the arrow key fix after having re-installed the same build. smile Guess I'll try it with the real update now!

Alexis DeveriaFyrd Friday, July 14, 2006 3:45:18 PM

@MrFrodo:

Hm, and same here regarding the refresh thing. Weird.

GuilhermeSpyMan Friday, July 14, 2006 3:47:12 PM

The light gray buffer bar in YouTube videos still won't appear... See how it looks in IE:

http://img305.imageshack.us/img305/919/buffer3bv.png

Please try to fix it!

Sorry for my bad english...

User:Aka Friday, July 14, 2006 3:49:06 PM

Starting with today morning, there are some strange problems with browsing the Wikipedia projects. I hoped this release will fix them, but it does not. Yesterday all still went fine and with Firefox and other browsers all still *is* fine today. So, it seems to be an Opera problem sad

I'm not the only one having it - please see

http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=149140

for more details.

Joey WaghWajo357 Friday, July 14, 2006 3:50:17 PM

tformers.com still does not render appropriately
worked in 8.54 and beta releases of 9

Mark Stevensonmkstevo Friday, July 14, 2006 3:51:48 PM

Could I ask that you make the font smoothing optional in the Mac build ? All text in Opera ( including email ) is very hard to read ( Mac Mini Intel Core Duo ) FireFox and Safari are not affected , but I'd love to use Opera ...

Ice ArdorIceArdor Friday, July 14, 2006 3:59:42 PM

Maybe you could choose a sans-serif. That makes screen viewing a little better, generally.

Alexis DeveriaFyrd Friday, July 14, 2006 4:01:39 PM

Well, definitely running 3471 now, and alas, arrow keys still have no effect on search field. sad Even with fresh install on OSX 10.3.9.

Can this be confirmed, or am I just doing something wrong?

AndrewAndrewNi Friday, July 14, 2006 4:02:21 PM

I also have the refresh problem that MrFrodo and Fyrd have. I have had it for quite a few of the last builds including v9 final :/

And the same problem as the poster below me...

Májawosa Friday, July 14, 2006 4:04:32 PM

Hi,
when I edit my post in phpBB forum, i press submit button. Next page is posting.php, where i can click to the link, which is pointing to edited post. But if i go to this link (i clicked on), the EDITED page was not edit. But page posting.php wainting 3 seconds to redirect me to edited post. If i wait for redirecting, the page was edit. Bug from Opera 9 a think. History > Check documents: Always doesn't work. Any ideas? Link to the forum? I searched for it. (sorry for my EN:-)

mrd Friday, July 14, 2006 4:07:50 PM

The wikipedia thing is something they've done.

If you identify as Mozilla it strangely works. A peculiar "quirk" or "accident" to have introduced. Someone needs a slap at wikipedia.

EdgarEdgar0024 Friday, July 14, 2006 4:09:39 PM

all ok but http://www.tennisone.com/ always display not good layout smile

Mark Stevensonmkstevo Friday, July 14, 2006 4:16:03 PM

Thanks IceArdor , I have tried every font on the system ! Some are better , none are clear enough for me to be able to use Opera . I should add that I am using OS X 10.4.7 . I am used to a Windows PC and have used every version of Opera on this since version 3 ( a paid user no less ) I LOVE Opera and I wish I could use it on my Mac .

Please Mr Opera , consider my eyesight !

desudesu Friday, July 14, 2006 4:22:48 PM

This website works even in Dillo! :-(

C.Felipecafesote Friday, July 14, 2006 4:28:21 PM

The colors of the "find words" (ctrl+f) would have to be fixed too, they are little visibles in extensive docs because the black tones. Not is a bug, but is about usability.

Great work in innovating the browser always... up

Adam22sas Friday, July 14, 2006 4:29:49 PM

IMAP fixes? Can you be more specific? For me there is still no new mail sound in INBOX. Sent messages remain viewed in a compose window. Thanks.

LudvigKanel Friday, July 14, 2006 4:30:50 PM

Opera is still eating all media keys commands. sad

Bill PBill_P Friday, July 14, 2006 4:31:15 PM

Don't know if this is the site or this new version but I'm now unable to create a new post on Suse Forums as I get:

'502 Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request POST /community/forums/reply.dml.
Reason: Error reading from remote server"

I can preview the post but not actually submit it - can someone confirm this?

Májawosa Friday, July 14, 2006 4:38:35 PM

Search field now shows dropdown when using the down arrow key.

Is it really work? Or what is it doing? (Win)

Digidani Friday, July 14, 2006 4:52:25 PM

There are some problems with pictures in Opera9 (final and weeklys). For instance with EXIF-Dates (Opera 8.54 shows some EXIF-Dates): http://www.fredmiranda.com/hosting/showphoto.php?photo=40911&sort=1&cat=500&page=1

Or Opera don´t show pictures: http://www.ungezogene.de/

sad

Investor Friday, July 14, 2006 4:53:05 PM

Congrats... back in business again with this build... Opera's best ever (on my old PC)... up

Thank You!

coralie mercierkoalie Friday, July 14, 2006 5:11:25 PM

Hi, desktopteam

I'm using Opera 9.01, now build 3471 on mac OS 10.4.7 (I had also downloaded the previous build)

There is this one thing that I is very useful (to me) and that I was able to do in Compose Mail with opera 8.54: double click between two words and have the space in between selected. It doesn't work anymore. It now selects the word closest to the mouse.
Any chance this might be fixed?

Thanks for the wonderful work you are doing. (regardless of the answer to the question above!)

Kyle Bakerkyleabaker Friday, July 14, 2006 5:14:06 PM

After editing a post in phpBB forums, the post is not updated with the new one until a manual refresh is done.

G-Bojkokrusha Friday, July 14, 2006 5:29:52 PM

Forum update sometimes doesn't work here 4 me either sad

Only after the manual page update.

parsien Friday, July 14, 2006 5:30:34 PM

Thanks and keep up the good work

Torstein LarssonmichBergen Friday, July 14, 2006 5:32:20 PM

In Suse Linux, opera-9.01-20060713.6-shared-qt.i386-en.rpm will not install, with Yast complaining that "operaopera" is not present in the package.

omeow Friday, July 14, 2006 5:36:34 PM

Nice changes. Shame that the background colour on (context) menu items is still non-transparent in the UNIX client. Many users suffer from the same problem. Although it does seem that the file menu is fixed now! smile

Saulo Benignosaulob Friday, July 14, 2006 5:39:35 PM

the transfer 'stopped' bug still alive...
