Super! Thx!

C.Felipecafesote Wednesday, August 2, 2006 5:15:03 PM

Something like that could be added to the content block menu of the "current page". A shortcut for block content general options, like that would be more easy to create definitive filters.

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/2474/buttoncontentrz0.png

A little suggestion,
And a "' ctrl" keybord shortcut would be great bu default.

Good job developers.

Changelog for Opera 9.01 for Windows:

"Using search from right-click menu remembers the last search engine used."

NO, it does not. Just add a new search engine, choose it with right-click and then try again - it is NOT remembered.

netlord Wednesday, August 2, 2006 5:17:27 PM

hi

good news - lets try ntlm wink

AndrewLiandri Wednesday, August 2, 2006 5:21:48 PM

Please let Opera delete HTML-tags from window names and show pure text. We see tags in the tab-names and in window-names.
It's not a bug, it's just suggestion. Tags are not required in window-name because there symbols can't be in big/small size or have other style.

And plz don't say me about forum, i've already understood that almost all of suggestions there won't be realized in Opera.

Regards

Whatever "that Gtalk thing" is, maybe it's up to Google to stop blocking Opera?

ERiceberg Wednesday, August 2, 2006 6:32:35 PM

I'm having trouble seeing Flash content on my MacBook Pro. I uninstalled Flash using the latest Intel-version uninstaller from Adobe, then I reinstalled the latest Flash 9 public beta. Flash works in Safari and Firefox, but not Opera 9.01. Should I file a bug? Anyone else experiencing this on Intel Macs?

Joey WaghWajo357 Wednesday, August 2, 2006 6:33:05 PM

gtalk in gmails 'pop-out' and 'pop-back in' work much better in opera now smile
communicating to the gmail gtalk is still a little sluggish

Joey WaghWajo357 Wednesday, August 2, 2006 6:37:02 PM

google spreadhseets now works much better when IDed as IE

Twilo Wednesday, August 2, 2006 6:43:42 PM

is this the last weekly version?

stenosissteno Wednesday, August 2, 2006 6:56:16 PM

thx Opera team! smile
well done

OperaNoobie Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:19:50 PM

Since Opera can now handle web archive files since several versions, why still no file association available in Prefs/Advanced/Programs/Details for .mht? If an Opera user saves a webpage as an .mht file, then double clicks the file, it opens in IE! Not cool. Opera needs to be able to grab this association away from IE and also have its own icon for it.

Also, Opera is still rendering http://www.buzzflash.com intermittently (about half of the time so not sure what the pattern is) as a four column webpage with the fourth, right-most column blank. Is this a TABLES bug?

See http://members.owensboro.net/jvender/buzzflash_site_bug.png

This site is only a three column website! The fourth, blank column shouldn't be there. This ONLY happens in Opera 9.x, never in Opera 8.54 and never in IE, Firefox or Seamonkey. The correct rendering looks like this:

http://members.owensboro.net/jvender/buzzflash_correct_rendering.png

As I've reported earlier, tinkering with the "Author Mode" button and "Fit to window width" button makes the fourth, blank, column disappear and the page to redisplay as proper three column page.

I request that other Opera 9.01 users at this forum confirm this bug at http://www.buzzflash.com

You may not get the rendering problem to show up on the first try, so keep trying at different intervals, clearing cache between tries. Report back as soon as confirmed. Thanks.
Also, this Opera 9.01 release is still unable to access my bank site at https://online.elancard.com because of javascript errors. And, no, I'm not using any filtering software and I've tried disabling my firewall and even my virus scanner. The js errors persist.

I request that at least several other opera 9.01 users at this forum visit https://online.elancard.com after they've enabled javascript, referrer logging, cookies and also set the error console to pop up on error. Try with and without masking as IE. Report back whether or not you got js errors upon loading of the page and upon clicking on the "login" button. It isn't necessary to have valid login credentials to verify. I'm getting the errors even before I enter any credentials and even without filling in the fields. Its happening upon page load. Plus, just clicking on the login button generates js errors instead of notifying me that I've supplied incorrect credentials which is what happens in IE and Mozilla browsers.

Inability to access my bank account and the buzzflash site rendering problem are the only major annoyances that keep me from using Opera 9.x. All of these problems have been reported before (several times). Please fix.

Tomasz Cieńciałacenebris Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:26:16 PM

Well, IMAP still has some problems - one of my accounts is fetching headers forever, while the other works ok sad

Kyle Bakerkyleabaker Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:32:35 PM

@desperado666
Why are you in such a hurry to see Opera10? I'm ready to see a 100% stable Opera9. Besides, doesn't anyone else thing that once we start getting to Opera10, Opera11...Opera54 that it will sound alittle rediculous. I think Opera9 sounds great. But 10 and plus just sounds too....can't think of the word I'm looking for, anyways. bigsmile @FataL...I did the Opera54 just for you, haha.

@remcolanting
I'm with you, lol...

Already waiting for the next weekly wink bigsmile

@sasesi
I'm not sure which Gtalk bug you are speaking of, but you do know that if you mask as IE or FF in Gmail that the Gtalk box appears on a refresh, don't you? I however avoid this method because I want the Gmail team to see Opera users using Gmail, and in hopes that they will stop blocking features from us. wink

@olli and Junyor
I didn't reinstall since I already had 8552 installed, but I'm experiencing http://www.ImageShack.us upload problems once again, however, they are only occassionally and as best I can tell...unpredictable.

I'm also having problems with some of the cached images in Gmail shoing up in the wrong places in Gmail...
http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/7212/gmailbugcm1.png
...this is rare, but unpretty wink and annoying to look at. I can of coure right click and reload images, which fixes the errors, but evidently there is something going wrong with caching these images that needs to be addressed if it has not been already.

Also, I wanted to ask...
Why are the "String Function" results on the http://celtickane.com/projects/jsspeed.php page affected so greatly when multiple windows are opened? Are there too many windows trying to access and use string functions all at once when multiple windows are opened? Is this a bug? You can read my post on the OperaWatch site about this here...
http://operawatch.com/news/2006/08/opera-easily-beats-major-browsers-with-javascript-speed-test.html
...as I have tested with Opera, FF, and IE and with all at once and then just Opera. I put links to screen shots I made there as well.

Sorry so many questions. just trying to help sort about possible bugs and problems. wink

Rogner Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:34:21 PM

I will bless you if you will implement function like is searching of words similar in Google toolbar when you see searched word in toolbar and can simply search with click on thiese words.

Kyle Bakerkyleabaker Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:36:35 PM

@olli and Junyor
Also, I keep encountering the following error page when navigating this site and trying to post...

People are tired of asking you to fix
http://www.gazeta.ru/lenta.shtml
Please, please, please! This is one of the most popular runet resources. Scaling the page restores visibility of it's content.

MrFrodo Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:50:15 PM

@ OperaNoobie

The page in question renders (buzzflash) fine for me.

Mac 9.01 Final

Raistlin Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:52:42 PM

I've still problems with external js with slow Internet connection. Yes, I know, there isn't too much people, whose are using 3-5kBps. But God, why ff or slash and ie works fine on it? (I mean functionalibility, not speed).

http://www.kusmierz.be/tests/hints/
(I've error:

JavaScript - http://www.kusmierz.be/tests/hints/
Event thread: mouseover
Error:
name: TypeError
message: Statement on line 1: Could not convert undefined or null to object
Backtrace:
Line 1 of script
hint.show(this, "pecet");

which mean - "oh, no, I forgot load js files (see code)!".

Fun. In 8.54 works fine... What the ...?

Bill PBill_P Wednesday, August 2, 2006 7:56:22 PM

Darn!!!!!!! once again the Pandora widget isn't running and it did last week. Why is that some weeks it do and others it don't? It's the only widget I've tried that has this problem.

Running Suse10.1 x64.

HuwHuwSy Wednesday, August 2, 2006 8:02:02 PM

Still not getting any TV at http://www.bulldoglounge.com/tv.asp?channel=Entertainment+News doubt theres anything interesting actually there but its the fact that it doesnt work that bothers me.

Would still like google talk in gmail too, also no real need for it but just because it should work. lol.

As for a version 10. Maybe follow the Corel methodology. OperaX. Could even add a little X onto the O logo for it, but that would be better suited for a tenth birthday whenever that is/was.

Brecht Wednesday, August 2, 2006 8:13:58 PM

I think we are all waiting for a final release with lots of bugfixes. So everyone will be happy. What I don't understand is why we do stop now, to 9.01.. and don't leave this version as a weekly. Because there ain't things changed, fixed, implemented, added since the latest weekly.

Anyway, keep up the good development, and try to laugh from to time to time. Because you guy's come a long way, and see where we are now...
Cheer up dudes!

4rcane Wednesday, August 2, 2006 8:21:08 PM

after all the bugs are fixed, one of the BIG features that I wanted the browser to have is an autotranslator of world languages

rseiler Wednesday, August 2, 2006 8:29:30 PM

@OperaNoobie: Mind going back to the old thread and answering my last post to you there? I felt like we were on to the next logical thing re your oddball problems with that site, but then you disappeared.

At this point, you can't assume that the problem isn't on your end given that I've tested on three different machines here.

scorpion29 Wednesday, August 2, 2006 8:51:52 PM

JS bug: http://dwypych.webd.pl/o1.htm

@csant: Don't remove this post if Opera's programers can't fix the bug... It is not serious !!!

Kamikaze321 Wednesday, August 2, 2006 9:10:56 PM

well, web.de doesnt work for me aswell, cant see emails. Most ppl in germany have email accounts there...

and bug 218069 is still there.

hmmm started using firefox, ...its shit but at least it shows the pages correct sad

Fabio Palliniflitz Wednesday, August 2, 2006 9:19:07 PM

@Rogner: this function you are wondering is avaliable as a UserJS currently in development.

It works really great!

Take a look: http://files.myopera.com/Stoen/uhb/ush.PNG
You can get at the forums: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=149014

SaschaSKolb Wednesday, August 2, 2006 9:23:00 PM

@ Kamikaze

Sorry .. but web.de is working fine for me ! not a bug in Opera, perhaps more with your installation ?

Kamikaze321 Wednesday, August 2, 2006 9:30:37 PM

@sklob

well, older weekly builds did work for me but newer builds do not. i did nothing change. I am able to log in but I cant see the emails.

Kyle Bakerkyleabaker Wednesday, August 2, 2006 9:45:08 PM

@4rcane
I don't think it would be very logical for the Desktop Team to include that into Opera itself solely because of the gigantic filesize increase that would cause. That would require everyone to install all of the languages. Instead, I'd say that if that feature _ever_ did get implemented into Opera itself, it will probably go thru another website to translate it for you.

Altho, in the mean time, you could always go here...
http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=free+website+translation&sourceid=opera
...and find a good free translation website, right click on the text box where the url you want to translate goes, and create a search. From then on you could translate pages by typing the keyword 't' or whatever followed by the url. Tada!

Dustin WilsonKhadgar Wednesday, August 2, 2006 10:18:34 PM

There's a skinning bug in opera where Tile Left and Right doesn't get applied to the Hotlist Splitter. To get around this you can make a 4 pixel background image with what's needed, but when you resize the panel using that bar the graphic jumps around.

I submitted bug #223199 for this. Thanks.

Peter McCaffreypeteremcc Wednesday, August 2, 2006 10:47:29 PM

i noticed this was released before you even posted here smile

i have had 1 crash so far, not sure what caused it though... we will see.

the other problem i had is that i had the "bookmark properties disabled" problem that has been reported. restarting opera seemed to fix this though.

thanks
