New themes, shoutbox and bug fixes
By Fredrik Andersson. Thursday, 3. May 2007, 10:59:30
Hi. Today we updated My Opera with some new stuff. ![]()
New blog themes
There's a bunch of new blog themes to choose from, and we have also made new enhanced versions of the old themes.
Everyone who has an old theme will (soon) be automatically upgraded to a newer version, except for those of you who have customized your own design - you can choose for yourself if you wish to upgrade or not, but please note that some things have changed and your custom CSS might not work 100% with the new themes. (it's not possible to switch back once you have upgraded)
The CSS for the new themes has been rewritten and improved. It's now more standardized and modularized. The pages are also a bit wider than before.
The about page
The about page for the new blog themes is a bit different. It now follows the standard two column layout, just like the other pages.
Shoutbox
There's a new shoutbox feature available for the blogs. It's turned off by default. You can enable it in "sidebars and menus", from "My account". You will automatically be notified each time someone writes a message in your shoutbox.
The shoutbox can also be seen in the sidebar at the peoples section.
Profile
There are two new fields available on the profiles: Skype and Wii friend codes.
Games
The games section has been removed from the main My Opera navigation, but the group is still available here.
Forums
We made a small text change in the forums. Post "subject" is now called post "title".
Bug fixes
We have made tons of bug fixes this time. The most awaited is probably the groups access rights fix. Others worth mentioning are: "view photos" and "view blog" buttons are now back, send message recipients are now visible, active groups page has been fixed. etc, etc..

Later I changed to one of the new styles, the numbers of any list in a post are cut, only it is possible to see correctly from 1 to 10, from 11 to up are cut their tens. http://my.opera.com/el_esponjoso/blog/2007/02/13/las-preguntas-mas-frecuentes-sobre-opera
Besides it is very annoying that I can´t use a custom stylesheet because the system come back to put one time and again one stylesheet that modified initially but I can´t erase o modify it of any manner
WHAT IS HAPPENING?

I don´t understand what is happening but I think that this change to the form of handling custom stylesheets, sincerely SUCKS!

I define a specific stylesheet in custom stylesheet page but the system insists on keeping and continue using a different initial stylesheet that I already modified, even I delete the file http://my.opera.com/el_esponjoso/user.css and I try one time and again with the new stylesheet specified in custom stylesheet page and the system come back the previous stylesheet that I delete.
I have as option :
Use my custom style sheet together with the current theme
or
Only use my custom style sheet *
and it keeps this bug.
I don´t understand this, before I defined a specific stylesheet in custom stylesheet and the system applied immediately the stylesheet and If I specified other stylesheet then the system applied the new stylesheet.
Only as example, I define this stylesheet:
even I do it in this file: http://my.opera.com/el_esponjoso/files/user.css
but the system use this stylesheet: http://my.opera.com/el_esponjoso/user.css
What has happened with the system?

I'm wondering when will visitors(non myopera members) be able to add their own URL (website) in separate field when submitting a comment ?
It would be very useful !

Why?!
I really like the new themes, CONGRATULATIONS! BUT... and the "Save" Button? When i click to just preview the new themes... ploft! Now I can't downgrade to main and old layout. Now i need to rewrite all my CSS.
The preview needs to come back!
And the option to choose new or old styles too.

2. The link of tag picture should be encoded as utf-8, or the picture will never be shown when the link contain non-english words in IE.

Hey, I just wanted to clarify that for ME the pirate theme is pretty lame, but for people who like pirates it's pretty cool.
Thanks a lot for all of your hard work, eh. You really do have a keen eye there Fred. I do miss the blue alien theme, as without modifiction it was great! Blue #2 is a nice starting layout and colour scheme - with a custom banner, it'll be... sexy!
