New My Opera missing some new features

, , , , ,

Murphy's law strikes again -- if something can go wrong, it will.

After roughly 6 hours just getting everything out, we ended up having hard to track down problems which led the site to feel like the "good old days".

After 6 more hours we finally traced down the root cause of the problems and have disabled the new way of serving user pictures and the latest activity feed. That means that the big user picture of you will not be shown just yet, but we recommend using a mirror in the meantime, and if you want to know what your friends are up to, give them a call, or ask them out till we get things sorted

We apologize for any inconvinience and the long wait. However we hope you enjoy the fresh design, the localization, the bug fixes, and the quick responsiveness of the site.

We hope to track down the final ghost as soon as possible, after eating some pills...

Oh and we already have some, mostly UI, fixes going on, but it has to wait some hours

theoddbod 18. November 2008, 22:18

Wow, every time I refresh a page at the moment something changes :eyes:. First the blank profile pics have a sort of tear down the middle, now the Explore page is free of anything to explore p:

theoddbod 18. November 2008, 22:18

It's surprisingly entertaining :D

Furie 18. November 2008, 22:21

Using a mirror to view one's self? Do we look like iPhone owners?

nicomen 18. November 2008, 22:23

theoddbod: it's a glitch in the matrix

Schalandra 18. November 2008, 23:00

All I see now is blonde, brunette, redhead.

Tamil 19. November 2008, 03:37

:wait:

thobi 19. November 2008, 06:17

well, good luck guys

Furie 19. November 2008, 10:05

A glitch in the matrix. Does this mean we all get to wear leather and act like idiots?

Schalandra 19. November 2008, 10:20

Nah, Furie... uhm "Mr. Anderson". We can fly, dodge bullets and "download" various combat styles directly into our brain... well, at least until MyOpera is completely fixed. :D

Furie 19. November 2008, 11:45

I tried that and the only "combat style" left on the internet that I could download was a pelvic thrust combo. Not useful in a combat situation as I found out while testing it this morning. Messy too.

lamarca 19. November 2008, 11:45

hope the page layout issue gets fixed soon.

rfhurley 19. November 2008, 18:28

Turin 20. November 2008, 05:27

Just don't let the ghosts catch you when running in the maze.

nicomen 20. November 2008, 17:43

Added some fixes to ui problems, and the activity feed is back, so should avatars and user pictures

SqueakeyCat 21. November 2008, 00:30

now we just gotta get it back up to speed....lmao

funz81 21. November 2008, 09:23

To hell with Murphy, I'm loving the new My Opera :hat:

Yndi 4. December 2008, 14:44

Sry, but why is this ugly font used? I nearly can´t read it, because the spaces between the words are as small as there were none.

nicomen 4. December 2008, 16:39

Yndi: where is that?

Yndi 4. December 2008, 17:11

It´s only on the mainpage of my my Opera. But I think there was an other site which had the problem but I do not remember.
Here is a screen what it looks like for me in Opera 10.0. No difference to 9.62 and IE 8.0 Beta 2.

nicomen 5. December 2008, 13:30

Yndi: That really seems to be a problem with your setup, possibly missing or wrong fonts installed or similar? What OS are you running on? And maybe you can ask in the browser related forums...

Yndi 6. December 2008, 08:55

I´m running Vista x64 Ultimate SP2 beta, SP1 was tunning untill yesterday.
I did not install or delete any fonts and I´m using complete author CSS, which means I do not even underline or color links. I´ll have a look in the forums.

Furie 6. December 2008, 14:10

Vista = :devil: Nuf said.

Yndi 30. December 2008, 17:48

Since the update to Opera10 the fonts are just fine.
