Javascript cookies

Here you will find an object with methods to save, read and erase cookies. Using these methods you can manipulate cookies on your site.

Cookies provide a means for a Web server to induce a client to store information about itself which can subsequently be called up by the Web server when required.

Javascript trim

In programming, trim is a string manipulation function or algorithm. The most popular variants of the trim function strip only the beginning or end of the string. Typically named ltrim and rtrim respectively.

This Javascript code trim implementation removes all leading and trailing occurrences of a set of characters specified. If no characters are specified it will trim whitespace characters from the beginning or end or both of the string.

Without the second parameter, Javascript function will trim these characters:

” ” (ASCII 32 (0×20)), an ordinary space.
“\t” (ASCII 9 (0×09)), a tab.
“\n” (ASCII 10 (0x0A)), a new line (line feed).
“\r” (ASCII 13 (0x0D)), a carriage return.
“\0″ (ASCII 0 (0×00)), the NUL-byte.
“\x0B” (ASCII 11 (0x0B)), a vertical tab.

trim.js
/**
*
*  Javascript trim, ltrim, rtrim
*
**/

function trim(str, chars) {
	return ltrim(rtrim(str, chars), chars);
}

function ltrim(str, chars) {
	chars = chars || "\\s";
	return str.replace(new RegExp("^[" + chars + "]+", "g"), "");
}

function rtrim(str, chars) {
	chars = chars || "\\s";
	return str.replace(new RegExp("[" + chars + "]+$", "g"), "");
}

Javascript validate email

The Javascript email validation function below will return true if email is correct, false – otherwise.

There is only one argument to this validation function its email address.
emailvalidation.js
function validEmail(email){
	var emailReg = /^[a-zA-Z0-9._-]+@[a-zA-Z0-9.-]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,4}$/;
	return emailReg.test(email);
}

Sortable table

This JavaScript sortable html table code can be used to convert tables in ordinary HTML into sortable ones. This script is unobtrusive. No additional coding is necessary. All you need to do is put header (sorting) row in THEAD section, table body rows in TBODY section, footer rows (if you need them) in TFOOT section and give your table an ID field, include the webtoolkit.sortabletable.js file and create SortableTable() object after each table.

Tested in IE5.0+, OP8.0+, FF1.0+

Actionscript MD5

MD5 (Message-Digest algorithm 5) is a widely-used cryptographic hash function with a 128-bit hash value. MD5 has been employed in a wide variety of security applications, and is also commonly used to check the integrity of data. The generated hash is also non-reversable. Data cannot be retrieved from the message digest, the digest uniquely identifies the data.

This script is used to process a variable length message into a fixed-length output of 128 bits using the MD5 algorithm. It is very useful when u want to transfer encrypted passwords over the internet.

Actionscript UTF-8

The encoding known today as UTF-8 was invented by Ken Thompson. UTF-8 is a variable-length character encoding for Unicode.

It can represent any character in the Unicode standard, yet is backwards compatible with ASCII. Use this Actionscript to encode decode UTF-8 data
utf8.as
