Batteries, apple, annoyances, iPod Touch
IPod Touch Battery problems: discharges really quickly and even if
off! Battery might. Eg showing half on bar, I switch off at night,
when I switch back it's earning me 10% so it's draining even when off!
Not good, battery on Sony Ericsson k750i much better, lasts days even
when I make lots of calls.

annoyances, antivirus pro 2009, malware, anti-malware
How to Remove Antivirus Pro 2009 (Uninstall Instructions)
What this nasty little piece of malware does:
Antivirus Pro 2009 is a rogue anti-spyware program from the same family as AntiSpywareXP 2009 and XP Antispyware 2009. AntiSpyware Pro 2009 is advertised through the use of Trojans that display fake security alerts and messages stating that your computer is infected. These alerts will also automatically install Antivirus Pro 2009 on to your computer.

mobile phones, 3 mobile, poor design, annoyances
...

Our ghastly experience with Three was largely brought about by the failings of the Sony ericsson K850i (left), perhaps the most disappointing mobile phone on the market...
It promises so much with its 5 mega-pixel Xenon flash cybershot camera but is poorly designed and has serious issues with said camera.
The keyboard has widely spaced hard nobbly keys and and three unresponsive touch screen buttons (hint: if you're going to have a touch screen have a proper one, not just three areas on the edge of the screen which are unnecessary and only vaguely responsive).
The camera - excellent when it works especially the flash - is unreliable. Sometimes it takes VERY dark pictures. Sony Ericsson blames this on users sticking their fingers round the front and interfering with the light sensor. Crap! This happens randomly even when fingers are 'correctly' positioned. Besides, what unergonomic design! It's a shame because the xenon flash is so good it can take good pictures in total darkness.
We took it back and exchanged it for a K770i (below) instead of a K800i (K810i wasn't available from 3) mainly because of the built-in Skype and the better-designed sliding lens cover (bizarrely the K850i doesn't have a cover so one can easily scratch the plastic cover or get it greasy). The K770i is far easier to hold and operate one-handed.

laptops, Asus Eee PC, mobile office, free internet access
...

Q: A small laptop or a large coffee? A: Both!
I am writing from a Wetherspoons bar (The William Morris) in Hammersmith, west London. The Wetherspoons chain has offered free wireless for its customers for a while now (and also serves a decent large Lavazza coffee for only £1.19)

When will places likes Starbucks* wake up to the fact that if you don't offer free wireless these days (only a portal to a paid T-Mobile Hotspot account) then you will lose business to the likes of Wetherspoons which charges much less for its coffee and has a wider range of food and drink on offer as well as being open longer.
I cannot add images at the moment on the
Downsizers.info blog because Wordpress 'Add media' giblet is not working properly.

Every time I go to add an image the I get as far as choosing the image - in this case from the attached cameraphone - and then I have no way of clicking on what I presume is an 'upload' button lurking offscreen. Any yes, I have tried using a combination of Alt+mouse. I assume it's a javascript 'issue' or maybe something to do with this theme or the eee's small-res screen. Needless to say I had none of these problems using Digital Media Group Opera community account which worked beautifully on the Asus as you can see. However I have noticed that the images I add here are compressed and don't link to larger versions

broadband speed check, Virgin ISP, virgin media, broadband
...

I tested it twice in case the first one was a fluke. The 2nd test result was even worse!

Remember, I am paying for 4Mbs. Also remember I was assured by the Virgin salesgirl that 4Mb from Virgin cable was better than 8Mbs ADSL because the fact it was cable meant it wouldn't fluctuate and would be a steady 4Mb etc.
I've also started to get those automatic telephone message adverts which are EXTREMELY ANNOYING!
