I did it!

,

Today was judgement day, the day of the 10k marathon. We all started running at 10:15 am, and the route went all through the Oslo harbour with lots of wind and through main street. I started out jogging fairly slow because it was too crowded to run faster.. i think it was good, cause then i got to warm up a little ;-)

After a while people spread out more, and i picked up my pace. My strategy was to find someone in front of me and think "stay with this guy and you'll be ok". After a while that guy got tired and started walking, and i had to find someone else to follow. I also got tired, and had to walk 4 times, but no longer than 15 seconds each time.

My goal was to beat Lene Alexandra's time from last year, which was 00:58:44. I came in at 00:55:52, so i beat her with almost 3 minutes! :-D

I'm very surprised i managed to do it in under an hour, and i guess i'm in better shape than i thought. But i've been completely exhausted the rest of the day, and i don't think i'll be able to walk for the next two days ;-)

Final workout

,

Today i had my final workout before Sundays 10k marathon. I decided to follow EspenAO's recommendation and do interval-training. The way i did this was alternating between walking fast, jogging and running really fast.

Here are the details:
Phase 1: Fast walking, 6 km/h for 1 minute.
Phase 2: Jogging, 8 km/h for 30 seconds.
Phase 3: Faster jogging, 9 km/h for 30 seconds.
Phase 4: Sprinting, 13 km/h for 1 minute.

I then repeated this until i had been on the treadmill for a little over 30 minutes. And i actually felt really good, and this makes me think i'm ready for Sunday :D

I'll let you know how i did when the race is over... unless i'm rip

Marathon-preparation update

,

Yesterday i managed to run for 40 minutes on a treadmill, that's a new personal record! I realized i was pushing myself too hard earlier, so i lowered the speed to 8 km/h instead of 10 km/h. All of a sudden i last twice as long!

In those 40 minutes i ran approx 5.5 km, and i had 5 minutes of walking uphill afterwards. In total it was a little over 6 km. 4 km more, and i've got myself a marathon!

This week...

, ,

This week i've skipped all my jogging-sessions. Why? Well, on Tuesday i finally got the keys to my new apartment! Since then i've spent my evenings packing, trying to find cheap appliances for the kitchen, and last but not least painting the kitchen. My father helped me with the painting, so it didn't take more than a couple hours to do the first coat. This evening we'll be doing the second and final coat.

Here's a snap of my dad and myself. My dad didn't want is face "all over the internet", so i censored his face :bandit:

Next week i'll definately get back to the jogging.. i have to, the marathon is only 3 weeks away!:yikes:
