Oh my! Spring is certainly upon us. The last week or so has just been incredible weather-wise. After a rather dull March & April, May is certainly showing itself from its best side.
In fact, we've now officially reached summer in Denmark
Well, perhaps not, but at least the temperature has reached 25 0C and we are - simply put - enjoying life. Life as it should be
We moved house in January; from a 118 sqm row house with 50 sqm garden, to a 191 sqm two-story single-family detached house with 600 sqm garden. Yikes
I've never been much for gardening, but it's rather different when you're actually able to move around in the garden without bumping in to the hedges every second
And with the lovely weather we've had the last couple of weeks, it's really, really enjoyable to play footy with the kids, mow the lawn or just be in the garden.
Unfortunately (in the sense that it is rather nice to just sit around with beer in hand and let the sun shine on you), there's still loads of work. Just spoke with a colleagues yesterday, and we could easily agree it's rather insane, in fact. There are just SO many opportunities presently, and not enough hands. If we had 20 well-qualified PhD Candidates, we could find projects for all of them. As it is, though, the larger companies - Vestas, Danfoss, Grundfos... - all pay much more and can offer quite interesting jobs at present. So, what would you choose if the choice was 25K or 40K per month ? Yeah, I know, you should really WANT research to go for a PhD under those conditions. I'm happy I did mine though... And I'm happy it's May, 'cause it's just so bloody nice!
