Ambigrams (typography game)

,

" An ambigram, also sometimes known as an inversion or flipscript, is a graphical figure that spells out one or more words not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation. The text spelled out in the other direction or orientation is often the same, but can also be a different text. Douglas R. Hofstadter describes an ambigram as a "calligraphic design that manages to squeeze two different readings into the selfsame set of curves." The term "ambigram" was first used to mean "ambiguous anagram" by Judith E. Bagai, a former editor of The Enigma, the official organ of The National Puzzlers' League. " ... learn more (wiki)...

I've spent a lot of time in a past few years trying to define my own theory of design, designers beign, visual essence...I've found nothing. Nothing really essential. Only "tips and tricks". Oldest (since man drew first line) , old, new, futuristic...most of them - theoretically valid! And unexpectedly I've found myself quite satisfied with it, at the end. Like as it usualy is, the answer was always at the beginning of a search. The designer is an engineer, applying knowledge into visually useful cretions to satisfy a specific need. Is it simple enough to be a truth? I'm almoust sure that I'll never know. And, sick enough, I'm happy because of that. It means that I'll never stop searching for the "universal designing truth". No, that search makes this call interesting. That search makes me love what i do. This truth is shape-shifting soul of a human creativity, human mind, human kind; tricky to catch! Is it just tricky? So then, what they can teach us at schools? They can give us some time to prepare for this search, they can give us tags and guidelines, some maps "where it was during history", they can show us games it played with human minds... :D

Well, my peace lies within my insanity

schoolwork

So, I put up a little collection of my school work. Here are some photos, drawings, cover arts...the things I managed to collect. Some of my work were simply lost or I don't have them in a digital form. I'll try to recover them so I hope this album will grow too.
