World Universitity Championship, Estonia

Don´t take this article too seriously
After two years we came back again to Estonia, to beautiful city Tartu. This time we battled to win university medals. It was last goal of the season, so it was about time to utilize all experinces to succeed. I already know I should push hard from the the very beginning of the championship. So I tried to win a model training, but I failed, Jan Mrázek did it again and took a clear victory and defeated the title from European championship in Latvia. And in the right time he sent a big message to all opponents to don´t become just a spectator, although something different was shown on the cover page of Bulletin no. 4.

Sprint race was held on periphery of the city. I didn´t run so bad and took a victory, Jan Procházka finished 6th and you can see our routechoices on the RouteGadget or in the picture below. I really don´t know who drew them, but they are quite funny

Long distance was a very nice race, which offered challenging orienteering especially in the second part of the course.
Comments of winners you can find on the official web page of WUOC. And my comment you can find here: "during last year our national team underwent thousands of "square" trainings, so we could not be surprised by any course on Mother Earth.
But my forking was the longest one and if I take into consideration two extra controls in the sea, my time of 100 minutes is not so bad."
Routes of winner Michal Smola are here
Both middle distance and relay race were held in the same forest. On middle distance our runners were successful again, so we could be optimistic before relays.
Four big rivals joined together. Praga´s couple Jan & Jan, Zlin´s Michal and Brno´s Tomas. And just 5 last controls separated them from gold medals. But luckily we lost just a race and this time no helicopter had to arrive...
Last discipline was a banquet. Hard to say who won this race. But Michal Smola got a diploma for 5th place in the morning, so obviously our team could not perform badly...
And Jan Mrázek promised us to resuscitate his blog, but this time he is going to write in German, because English is not sexy enough and every so-called star writes in English. I hope you remember it, Jan

Hej tenv tvůj článek by se hodil spíš na Mrázův blog :) pěkný
Anonymous # 4. August 2008, 11:18
Hele proč to je v angličtině, nebyl by překlad?
Anonymous # 4. August 2008, 12:13
Congratulations with sprint gold! ;)

Thank you, Vlad! ;-)

Nebo si tohle know-how hlídáš? :-) Dík
dlabaja # 5. August 2008, 11:40
Question:
Emil Wingstedt is known that he is opened
to useful inovative training methodes - since
you are in the same team, do you, or also
some other colleagues in Halden, join him in
some special sorts of training ?
Answer:
Emil and I`ve had some discussions about
training methods, and I think our training
is very different. I do a lot of slow running
and the last six months I`ve not done a
single interval training. Training methods
are funny to discuss, and of course I know
that my way is the only way..
