. DIE OPEREN-WELTgemeinschaft WIRD DURCH MY.OPERA.COM ANGETRIEBEN UND WIRD GUT UNTER VERWENDUNG DES OPEREN-BROWSERS, OPERA SOFTWARE. ANGESEHEN.

-> Die Opera-Welt-Gemeinschaft (Opera World Community) wird unterstützt von my.opera.com und wird idealerweise mit dem Opera-Browser betrachtet und verwendet!

PainterWoman 25. August 2008, 14:49

I love seeing the symbols used in other languages. I'd like to use them in my artwork but I'd have to be careful I didn't say anything terrible! :eyes:

Dieu Anh Le Vu 25. August 2008, 18:18

thank you, Henry, I'll send you the French and Vietnamese versions tomorrow

Henry 25. August 2008, 23:05

Hi thobi ..
Thanks for the comment.
Using BabelFish obviously has it's pitfalls, and i'm sure some of the other translations are worse probably. I will attempt to track down better language files, i'm determined see other languages onboard. I only wish i could translate with perfection.
Original piece:
. THE OPERA WORLD COMMUNITY IS POWERED BY MY.OPERA.COM AND IS BEST VIEWED USING OPERA BROWSER, OPERA SOFTWARE. .

Your translation:
DIE OPEREN-WELTgemeinschaft WIRD DURCH MY.OPERA.COM ANGETRIEBEN UND WIRD GUT UNTER VERWENDUNG DES OPEREN-BROWSERS, OPERA SOFTWARE. ANGESEHEN.

Translated back to English:
The opera EN world community IS PROPELLED THROUGH MY.OPERA.COM AND BECOMES PROPERTY USING the OPEREN BROWSERS, Opera Software. REGARDED.

How does one write grammatically correct English that comes up trumps grammatically in another language ?!? I'll start a Translators fee Trust Fund...

Rahul 26. August 2008, 03:34

My God...its like Greek or Hebrew to me at this initial phase of my language class

Dieu Anh Le Vu 26. August 2008, 10:44

French version : La communauté mondiale d'Opera est propulsée par my.opera.com et optimisée pour le navigateur Opera, Opera Software

Vietnamese version : Nhóm toàn cầu những người sử dụng Opera thuộc my.opera.com và hiển thị tối ưu với trình duyệt Opera, công ty Opera Software

By the way, I really don't like the 2nd sentence "IS BEST VIEWED USING OPERA BROWSER", because Opera Software is fond of web standards, and my.opera respects web standards so much that it is not best viewed with Opera, but with all browsers respecting standards. Please keep in mind our vision !

steven 26. August 2008, 12:08

haha tu as dit "la communauté mondiale d'Opéra est......optimisée..."
Tu veux dire qu'on optimise une communauté ?
(optimise moi mon vieux !)

poor Henry, hope you understand this "secret language" P:

steven 26. August 2008, 14:27

que c'est bon de te dire 't'es jolie' et ne pas être dérangés par les autres disant : quoi, quoi, quoi !

Henry 27. August 2008, 04:06

. THE OPERA WORLD COMMUNITY IS POWERED BY MY.OPERA.COM AND IS BEST VIEWED USING ANY BROWSER. ANY SOFTWARE. .

Before i change the text translations is it ok to word it as above mentioned, i have changed the sticky Post text already. If you have a better wordage, it's all good by me...
Thankyou Dieu, Steven...I  you speaking French..

While I'm NOT some 100% fluent, World Class Spanish Translator :jester: ... I AM fluent enough to see that the Spanish translation is Rough, especially once one gets into the actual entire Page translation. A lot of times, the translation is too much of a Word for Word translation attempt and ends up going awry.

For example the short Spanish Intro above actually makes it sound like MY.OPERA.COM is the one best viewed by Opera Browser & Opera Software, instead of the Opera World Community being the object, the focus.

IMO, a better Spanish Intro version would be:

LA COMUNIDAD MUNDIAL DE OPERA ES GENERADA POR MY.OPERA.COM Y ES VISTA MEJORMENTE UTILIZANDO EL OPERA BROWSER Y OPERA SOFTWARE.

Of course, if you want it tweaked to say that OWC can be best viewed with ANY Browser, ANY Software, here you go:

LA COMUNIDAD MUNDIAL DE OPERA ES GENERADA POR MY.OPERA.COM Y ES VISTA MEJORMENTE UTILIZANDO CUALQUIER BROWSER Y CUALQUIER SOFTWARE.

Henry 3. September 2008, 12:50

Hi all..

Thanks Suntana  Babel fish stinks.
I will post the 2nd translation you so kindly offer. I appreciate your imput..thankyou.
I'm going to have to find others to translate every post i do :insane:
I'm getting there..
 Suntana...and love your blog btw.

Suntana 3. September 2008, 14:38

I somehow have a hard time believing there's gonna be a Translator program that's gonna do the translations some serious justice. There are just too many nuances, slang and intangibles that Translator programs just can't possibly take into account. But, I could be wrong.

I was telling someone here in the Community about one instance of Flirting Gone Wild. Just for kicks, I one time sent this Buddy-ette an E-mail entirely in Spanish cuz she said she liked my periodic Spanish snippets on our Message Board. She said they were "Sexy." :D Well, she TRIED to return the favor and reply entirely in Spanish. Well, what I received was some incoherent MESS with all sorts of symbols that don't exist in Spanish or probably even on this planet. I got back with her, "What the heck was THAT? I'm sure it was supposed to be Flirty, but what does this mean? And this? And that? And what's with all the weird symbols?" It was then that she told me she had used a Translator, of which I didn't even know of their existence at the time. Again, it was a case of too many attempts at word for word translation that didn't make sense. But, I must admit it was hilarious juxtaposing what she meant to say vs. what she actually wrote, as per the Translator of course.

Thanks for the favorable Review regarding my Blog, Henry. But, Awww Man! I had to kick the High Octane down a notch yesterday. I had just installed a Background in my Welcome Post over the weekend with the CSS help of a Community Member. Well, yesterday a Bug was exposed. Attila went to add a Comment and it made my Background disappear! :yikes: It left WHITE Text on WHITE Background. Homer: Doh! I had to revert back to a Regular Sticky Post sans Background. Hopefully I'll find the Fix somewhere and get it back up the way it was.

Hope you find the Supreme Translator Program Extraordinaire, though.

Henry 4. September 2008, 00:24

Love your participation Suntana, much appreciated..

I will have to find people in appropriate my.opera language forums to help write up each post.
I feel you are indeed correct...if there is a translator program that can cope with these language nuances, i certainly am unable to find it.

 that sounds like me a few weeks back tryig to write in french..EVERYDAY for 5 days i was sent a pm with  only in the message. I think i gave no true reading at all as to what i meant OR what i actually wrote. Hence i haven't attempted this again..

Hope the fix works with the CSS comment box mishap..

Thanks for the company Suntana  Makes my day.

Pazhalsta..A lot of non romantic/non latin languages do away with linking words. Their statements are a series of exclamations seperated by commas or periods. The use of 'and', 'is', 'but' etc often confuses translaters. Spasibo.

Darko 8. October 2008, 19:44

Izvini, pazhalsta, prosti i razreshi,
eto ne slova a....

errrr, I forgot the rest :D

53north 8. October 2008, 20:37

I think 'tobarich', 'da' & 'ser' may be important shortly ...
=o}
