I have found the drivers online, by searching for USB2.0 PC Camera (SN9C201). This is what is written in the installation pics in the manual.

http://driverzone.com/device.php?id=58026
which leads here.
http://www.sonix.com.tw/sonix/downloadSearch.do
Select "Video/Image Controllers"
then "PC-CAM Controller"
& finaly "SN9C202"

 Alternative Links
This driver is for SN9C201 & SN9C202
They also have drivers for Mac OS

A LINUX driver can be found here Microdia

The difference between the two product numbers is;
SN9C201 = USB 2.0 compliant video single-chip processor
SN9C202 = USB 2.0 compliant video/audio single-chip processor
both broducts use the same driver installation, and stictly speaking the SN9C202 would be the actual chip used in the Ultra Webcam

UPDATE
In the one day after this page was put up, it allready had loads of visits.
I guess there are a lot of people without the instalation disc, or want better/updated drivers.

:hat: Hooray for me!
:faint: Boo to Tesco tech-support, or lack of. Homer: Doh!

Thanks for this post. I bought this camera and it came with driver cd, but those drivers I was unable to install. I have downloaded the drivers from this post and they are perfect.

Thankyou Juraj for leaving a comment.
I noticed that even people with the original driver CD had problems, so the updated driver is well worth using.

If you got the Technika webcam from tesco you can download the drivers from the Tesco website.

Here's the link.

dr_flay 19. August 2008, 14:07

Sorry to take so long Hayley, I don't have regular net access
I'm a bit confused with your question.

If you have the drivers installed and working, the camera should work in whatever program you choose to use (e.g. instant messenger progs, or video capture prog).

If it doesn't work, then you may have the wrong drivers ?

dr_flay 19. August 2008, 14:15

Andy...hmmm...
Not very observant are you ? Homer: Doh!

I allready have a link to the Tesco driver page.

 Hint... Look for the huge green link, with the words "Tesco Technika" & "Driver Downloads" on it.

Then when you look at the page, you will see that they still only have a driver, for one of their webcams.
They have sold lots of other webcams since that old basic model.

sorry guys but i find this all a bit dodgy. The sonix website doesnt wor me at all. All i want is the file that acts as the driver for the tesco webcam. Why cant u just put that file online? Would be great if u can, cheers.

dr_flay 7. September 2008, 12:31

 Dodgy ?
It would seem they are phasing out these old chips, so my links to the product pages have now changed.

The drivers are still available there, if you use their product search interface, as instructed.

Sorry, I'm not going to host the drivers, because of the huge volume of traffic I get to this page. I would get told off by the Opera Admin.

But I will now update the links, so they work again

Try this driver: http://www.trust.com/products/product_detail.aspx?item=14839

dr_flay 25. December 2008, 12:57

Sorry for the delay Jayjay. I haven't been online for a while :frown:

Once the drivers are installed, you need to access the camera with capture software of some sort.

If you have Nero, try "Nero Video Express".
Otherwise you can download "Media Player Classic" or "Virtual Dub" for free.

If the drivers are correctly installed, the camera should be easily seen by your Instant messenger client.

Thankyou Tomi7711

Cheers for any help.

dr_flay 26. January 2009, 16:10

If it uses the same chip, it will work...
... but I have no way of knowing what chip the Technika VGA webcam uses.
If you have the installation manual, that will help.

I've stumbled across this site wilst trying to help a friend of mine sort out a problem with the Technica Advanced webcam they recently bought from Tesco. I installed it for them and it appeared to work fine with Skype on voice only. However, when we switched on the vidoe function on Skype they lost the voice volume and a noise sounding like a fluttering/helicopter started after a few seconds. We have changed all of the setting on their computer and Skype and the noise still remains, although we have managed to reduce the volume to a level where the voice can now be heard. We have tried the webcam on a different computer and it seems to work okay, sugesting that the problem may be something to do with my friends computer. I know that this thread isn't the same as the original question above, but does anyone have any idea what the problem could be please. Thanks in anticipation.

Hey guys, tesco's driver is about as much use as an ashtray on a moterbike, i have the H16WC-01 model, and cant fint the driver for it any where, i have tried all the links on this page but nothing installs for this certain model, could any1 help??

dr_flay 13. February 2009, 02:51

To the last Anonymous person (please put a name next time)

First, as I did, phone Tesco helpline & complain.

If you have installed the newer driver, then all I can suggest is to make sure the Motherboard chipset & sound card drivers are up to date.
The chipset drivers usually include drivers for the USB bus.

If you look in the Windows "Device Manager" you can see what chipset the USB is based on.
The free program "PC Wizard" on my downloads page, is exellent for poking around under the bonnet.

If the USB drivers aren't part of the chipset driver package, You may (if you are lucky) find them as a separate download.

Some older USB drivers for USB-1 are a bit of a pain to find.

Other than that, it may be about time to re-install Windows. :frown:

dr_flay 13. February 2009, 03:10

Castor,
I found the drivers by searching for the details I read from the top of the window shown in the installation pics in the manual.

I have no doubt they buy the webcams from lots of diferent companies

Joe writes:

ARGHHHHH I have the earliest version of this webcam like Castor does, I cannot for the life of me find the drivers, or drivers that work with it's camera chipset, which is pac7302pe/cs apparently manufactured/supplied by PixelArt technologies ... this is giving me a headache, for the love of god someone please post an ISO of the original drivers cd ...

If I ever meet Mr. Tesco I'm gonna punch him in the guts ...

dr_flay 21. February 2009, 17:55

Joe, I hope you have phoned the Tesco help line to complain.

I had a quick search with the details you provided.
I see what you mean!

If I get much online time, I'll have another hunt.

My niece and I just bought the Technika H16wc-01, mine downloaded fine, but my niece's dvd writer doesn't work, we've managed to download the driver, but the videoimpression software that came with the driver software will not load, and I can't find a version to download from the internet, I don't want to do it illegally, but after all it is free software with the webcam. can any one help?

dr_flay 24. May 2009, 22:58

I assume this "videoimpression" is for video capture?

There are plenty of free programs you can use.
Here are a few.

VirtualDub
http://www.virtualdub.org

Media Player Classic HC
http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net

If you have Nero, you can use NeroVision Express.
