Don't worry ma'am. I'm from cyberspace.

Norway wins the greatest victory ever in the Eurovision song contest

, , , ,

I'd like to give my congratulations to my fellow norwegians in the community. Alexander Rybak just won the Eurovision song contest with his "Fairytale". This time we got the most points ever in the eurosong contest, 387. Fairytale is a norwegian folk inspired song. The dancers are dancing the Norwegian folk dance "halling".

The last time we won was back in 1995 with Secret Garden's "Nocturne". Thank you europe, for voting for us. Norwegians also have another reason to celebrate. Our National Day, has just started. The Constitution Day on May 17th.

Double congratulations to Norway! :hat:

Spacelog hiatus, againMy beautiful, beautiful Opera

w00t! Congrats! :hat:

I gotta say, though....and this is only my opinion. Not intended to offend or start a riot - I don't get why that song is so popular...or for that matter, why that guy is so popular. Is it a Norwegian thing & I'm too much of a dolt American to get it?

Karen 28. May 2009, 03:12

On a positive note, the guy speaking at the beginning makes me drool. I adore the Norwegian language. :o:

I think I get it...it's because he's pretty, isn't it? It has nothing to do with the song, and everything to do with his looks, right? p:

The guy in the beginning is russian, I think. It was the only HD video I could find.

I think it's a combination that makes this song so popular. The song is well written and has a exciting tune. He has good looks and flirts with the audience. He performs the song convincingly. The chorus builds upon the performance of Alexander. The Norwegian folk tune and the dancers make the song exotic and different. I think this combination is what makes this song appeal to such a wide audience. But a lot of Norwegians are getting fed up with the song because it's played everywhere. P:

 I would imagine so! I know I'm fed up with it and I've only heard it thrice! p:

No offense intended, of course. I simply state my opinion when it's not asked for.

The guy at the beginning was speaking Russian???? I've heard a lot of Russian since I live around so many Russians, and it didn't sound Russian...but what the hell do I know? Either way, it was dreamy. :o:

Jens Stoltenberg nachspiel-full på talerstolen

That's Jens Stoltenberg. The leader of the norwegian labour party. He's drunk while giving a speech on some kind of gathering.

That's norwegian. Also, I suppose you've heard the awesome norwegian english accent.

I can't say I'm fed up with the song yet. And I've heard it a lot. But when songs get this popular they tend to annoy a lot of people.

Ah well,he's famous.......I thought I was the one who knew this contest going on...no one actually seemed to be interested then, but anyway congrats to all norwegian people and everyone too....even estonia was good..P:

Karen 30. May 2009, 00:54

:o: Both the accent when spoken in English and the language itself are quite dreamy. :o:

I'd seen Espen's video when he posted it...laughed my American ass off!
