People can become addicted to a variety of drugs for a variety of reasons. Some of the most addictive drugs include, but are not limited to: cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, and amphetamines (uppers). Drug rehabs offer drug abusers an opportunity to rid their addiction. Drug rehabs are located in virtually every city and town in the United States as drug addiction is a problem that will not go away. The same holds true for drug addiction in Europe and other parts of the world as well.
The exact cause of drug abuse and dependence is not known. However, a person's genes, the action of the drug, peer pressure, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, and environmental stress all can be factors. Peer pressure can lead to drug use or abuse, but at least half of those who become addicted have depression, attention deficit disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, or another mental health problem.
To Keep your Child Away from Drugs should be the single most important agenda that you today as parents of children above 11 must have because drug abuse and drug addiction in children is increasing at an alarming rate. It is a problem of not a particular class of society, of a city, place, economic or ethnic group. It is everywhere and is becoming everybody's problem. Remember all children are vulnerable to the temptation of drugs. Usually it goes out of control before you can do anything about it. So keep your ears and eyes open and take the help of the following suggestions in doing so.
Never put your teen on the spot - if you think they may need the talk, you should bring it up in a discussion by leading into it. Do not sit them down and say, "Are you doing drugs?" This only pushes them away and makes them defensive and they feel as if you do not trust them.
Remember that children usually follow their family's example and that they are likely to stay away from drugs if their parents do not use them or have an anti-drug attitude. Teach you children to be onfident about themselves. Children who are confident will generally not experiment with something that they inherently know to be bad.
Create a happy and comfortable home atmosphere; let the children identify their home as their sanctuary.
A happy and a secure child rarely need to express himself/ herself through drugs. Tell your children about peer pressure and drugs, let them know that many habitual users have fallen into the habit by nothing more than just giving into their friends persuasion.
Teach them how to say no. It might seem like enough to tell them to say no, but have you ever put yourself in their shoes? Think of your teen, surrounded by a group of friends that are all smoking pot, and if they don't try it too, they will be the outcast. It is a very difficult thing to just say no. Instead, equip your teen with other things they can say to get out of this kind of situation. They could suggest other things to do (go to a movie, play a video game), they could say "I'm not into that", or they could leave and find some other friends to hang out with.
There are various forms of treatment offered by drug rehab facilities. While most drug rehabs stress drug awareness education, counseling, and treatment, others focus on proper nutrition and positive mental attitude. The programs differ in the length of onsite and outpatient treatment as well as cost.
