How to Setup a Whitelist for Cookies
Monday, 10. December 2007, 06:33:34
Today, I'm going to show you how to keep certain cookies that you want, & delete the rest of the tracking cookies automatically upon exiting Opera. I also provide a few buttons to make the routine a bit easier...
A. Setup Cookies Whitelist
1. First, go to Preferences (Ctrl+F12) > Advanced > Cookies & checked Delete new cookies when exiting Opera option. Hit OK once, & restart Opera. (restart Opera is optional, skip it if you want to keep some cookies)
2. Next, open a website that you want to keep it's cookies & go to Edit Site Preferences (F12/Context menu) > Cookies, then unchecked Delete new cookies when exiting Opera option. Hit OK to apply.
TIPS: Grab the Whitelist button from below to make this process simpler & quicker.
3. Now, repeat step 2 for other website that you want to whitelist it's cookies. Restart Opera after you're done. If you want to add new cookies to the whitelist in the future, just repeat step 2.
4. After restart, go to Preferences (Ctrl+F12) > Advanced > Cookies > Manage Cookies to make sure the whitelist is working properly. There should be ONLY the cookies that you want to keep - any cookies that's not whitelisted should be deleted upon exiting Opera. That's all.
B. Buttons
These buttons will simplify the whitelist process for you:
Button A: Whitelist
Single-click to add current domain into whitelist; Press & hold to remove current domain from whitelist.
Button B: Whitelist
Click button to add current domain into whitelist; Click arrow to remove current domain from whitelist.
C. Delete Private Data (DPD) & Whitelisted Cookies
After you setup a cookies whitelist, you can delete all cookies & kept the whitelisted cookies on demand with DPD. To do so, unchecked Delete all cookies option & checked Delete temporary cookies option under Detailed Options section inside DPD dialog. That's all!
Go here to get the DPD & Exit button

I've been looking for an Opera cookie manager for years. Your "button" is even better. Very much appreciated. Thanks

It is 2 yrs after this thread, and Opera should definitely implement these features : white cookies, black cookies, and delete all cookies. It should not be difficult for Opera developers to do that, and the features are very much requested by many users including myself.

They appear to mark the "select only cookies form sites I visit", this will not white list them unless the "accept cookies" is selected.

If it's still doesn't work properly, then maybe you can take a screenshot of the ESP for Mac (without changing any settings) & let me take a look. Upload the picture to your photo album & send me the link through PM. I might be able to find out what goes wrong...

The button was working as per instruction, only recently, now the button isn't even working. The "delete cookies on exit" doesn't get unselected, strange, this was working before.
