How to Imitate Copy + Paste and Go Shortcuts with Mouse Gesture

,

Found a web address (URL) on webpage you want to visit immediately? You can Copy the URL & then execute Paste and Go (Ctrl+Shift+V) to do so; OR highlight the URL & use Context menu > Go to Web Address command to open it in a new page. But here is a quicker way - use the mouse gesture!

A. Setup Mouse Gesture
1. Go to Preferences (Ctrl+F12) > Advanced > Shortcuts > Mouse Setup.
(& create a new mouse setup, if you didn't do that already)

2. Double-click on a Mouse setup you want to use, then select the Application section.

3. Create a new shortcut & input: GestureRight, GestureUp then add action: Go to page, "%t"

B. How it works?
After highlight an URL from webpage, perform GestureRight, GestureUp to open it to a new page. Another useful trick: If you set Google as your default search engine, you can search any highlighted phrases (more than 1 word) with Google.

TIPS: You can also setup a Hotkey with Go to page, "%t" to imitate Copy + Paste and Go. It's faster & easier to use, & no need to sacrifice your clipboard after each used!

question: what if I wanted to automatically open up a new web page, say google.com, and have it already search for the highlighted word? how would I do that?

OR try this from bpm's blog:

Simple version, only work on webpage text:
Go to page, "http://www.google.com/search?q=%t"

another quick question: is there a way to issue a mouse gesture command for the following without having to edit menu.ini?
open up a new background page (www.google.com) and search for the highlighted word?

thank you for all of your help.

is there a way to issue a mouse gesture command for the following without having to edit menu.ini?

Yes, you just need to setup a Mouse Gesture & input the command into the action slot. Most of the commands from menu.ini can be also used in the Mouse setup.

Example: Go to page, "http://www.google.com/search?q=%t" & Minimize page

What do you mean by: "opened the URL into a new page!"
I made the mouse gesture as you suggested, but the URL is opened in the same page (tab).

I shure would like it to open in a bacground tab.

@ diniets

You can do so if you unchecked Reused Current Tab option, this option will force everything to be open in current tab - thus disabled it will let you to open some command in a new tab instead.

Hi Dude , I mean Paste and Go in BackGround Tab , nevertheless ,I think Opera removed the function of Opening tab in background by using SHIFT key.

Thanks for the tip on restoring Paste-and-Go. Beats me why they took it out, but it's one keyboard shortcut I use a lot.

How to use Quote function:

  1. Select some text
  2. Click on the Quote link
