How to protect your bookmarks from duplicated copies or merged with others

, ,

Did the Synchronizer mess-up your bookmarks by duplicated your bookmarks to multiple copies or merged your bookmarks with someone else after the sync process? Here is a work around that will help protect your bookmarks when these kind of situation occurred...

1. First, before you start - make sure all the bookmarks & folders in the bookmarks panel/manager are exactly the way you want them to be. Delete or Edit any bookmarks/folders as needed, until you're satisfied with 'em.

2. Next, create a new folder in the top level of the bookmarks list, & use YOUR NAME (in Capital letters) as the title of the folder.

3. Finally, moved all bookmarks & folders into that newly created folder. If you did everything correctly, there should be ONLY 1 bookmark folder (with your name) in the top level, with everything else inside that folder.

Now, whenever the Synchronizer mess-up your bookmarks with duplicate bookmarks or merged with others' bookmarks - all of your original bookmarks will be kept, unchanged inside the YOURNAME folder (folder with your name), separated from the the rest of the unwanted bookmarks! So, all you need to do is delete all the unwanted bookmarks outside of that folder & problem solved!bigsmile

NOTE: Before you delete the unwanted bookmarks, make sure you're logged-in with your account, not someone else account! You don't want to accidentally deleted someone else bookmarks... p

Also, it's a good idea to always make an extra back-up copy of your bookmarks document (opera6.adr located inside your profile folder) daily/weekly. In case something goes wrong or you lost your original bookmarks, you can use it to restore your bookmarks. wink
