Toggle Fit to Width for All Tabs at once!

,

There is a very handy feature in Opera that allow user to squeeze/fit any webpage into the monitor screen width, it's called Fit to Width. However, Opera doesn't have a quick way to toggle this display mode for all tabs at once by default. So, today I'm going to show you a few tricks to do so:

A. Buttons
Button A: Fit to Width
Similar to regular Fit to Width button, & will toggle all tabs at once when press & hold.

Button B: Fit to Width
Similar to regular Fit to Width button, & will toggle all tabs at once when click on down arrow.

Opera 10 BETA Buttons
Button A: Fit to Width
Button B: Fit to Width

B. Setup Shortcus
The buttons are useless in Full Screen mode, so I included the Mouse/Keyboard actions for those who prefer browsing in Full Screen mode:

1. First, go to Preferences(Ctrl+F12) > Advanced > Shortcuts > Mouse/Keyboard Setup.
(& create a new mouse/keyboard setup, if you didn't do that already)

2. Next, double-click on a Mouse/Keyboard setup you want to use, select Application section.

3. Finally, create a new shortcut & input your preferred MG/Hotkey with the following actions:

Show preferences, 3 & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Click button & Click default button

Opera 10 BETA
Show preferences, 3 & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Click button & Click default button

C. How It Works?
You can toggle the Global Fit to Width mode with button, or use MG/Hotkey during Full Screen mode! The only flaw with this trick is the more tabs are opened the longer it took to toggle all of 'em... p

UPDATE: Added buttons & syntax for Opera 10 BETA.

Marjancek writes: Great tip! I was puzzled by Opera's behaviour. I took for granted that Fit-to-width was an inherited property (such as zoom), that would be followed by any child of the generating tab. But it's not!!! I almost feel like reporting it as a bug... Marjancek.

Anonymous writes: is there a way to disable the auto-fit to width? It keeps "re-checking" itself everytime i uncheck it under the View menu... Reason why i wanna disable this function is coz it screws up alot of the sites i use like facebook and hotmail. Please advise :/

The command under Menu bar is configuration for current active page ONLY, you should go to Preferences (Ctrl+F12) > Web pages > unchecked Fit to width - Everything under the Preferences dialog are for global control. wink

For the previous post - it's in 'web pages' not 'advanced'.

For dude09 .
Thank you! I'm glad I could find this answer, to the 'fit to width' that appeared to be a default
setting of ON. One of the problems of it being ON is that if you zoom on an image there's a point
to where you can't zoom any more.. until about 480% then the zoom jumps way past the previous
appearance and you've lost control of the image appearance. Uncheck the fit to width and
the zooming works better than any other browser for images (or anything)

Thanks again
