How to Merge Multiple Notes Together
Thursday, 26. June 2008, 10:54:53
I discovered another trick after someone requested a "Merge multiple notes together" function in the forum... Not sure if it will be useful, but I'll post it here & share with you all!
A. Buttons
Just drag one of these buttons into your Notes panel.
Button A: Merge Notes
Single-click will keep the original notes after the merged.
Button B: Merge & Remove
Single-click will delete the original notes after the merged.
Button C: Merge + Merge & Remove
Single-click to merge highlighted notes; Press & hold to merge the highlighted notes & remove 'em.
B. Setup Shortcuts
1. First, go to Preferences(Ctrl+F12) > Advanced > Shortcuts > Mouse/Keyboard Setup.
(& create a new mouse/keyboard setup, if you didn't do that already)
2. Next, double-click on a Mouse/Keyboard setup you want to use, select Notes Panel section.
3. Finally, create/modify a shortcut with your preferred MG/Hotkey with the following actions:
Merge notes
Copy & New note & PasteMerge notes & remove originals
Cut & New note & Paste
C. Setup Menu
If you don't know how to edit menu setup, read this TUTORIAL before you proceed further...
1. First, open standard_menu (1).ini with text editor.
(Renamed standard_menu (1).ini to something else to prevent Opera from overwrite it)
2. Next, search for [New note menu] & [Note Item Popup Menu] section, then add these lines under 'em:
Item, Merge Selected...=Copy & New note & Paste Item, Merge+Remove Selected...=Cut & New note & Paste
3. Finally, fire-up Opera & select the newly modified menu setup to apply the changes you just made.
D. How It Works?
Now, you should first organize all the notes you want to merge together in order - from first note (on top) to the last note (lowest). Then, highlight all of 'em & execute the button/command to create a new note with all highlighted notes' content in the order you setup. You will lost clipboard content after using this trick!

Of course, you have to use Opera's mail client...
Great blog, dude
Edit Oh, I just tested it and to make the idea usable for contact items, To-field must be emptied.
