Auto-complete Server Name with Menu Selection

Opera got a handy function called Auto-complete Server Name, which will attempt server name completion by adding prefixes (such as www) and suffixes (com, org, net...etc.). However, it doesn't work as well as desired most of the time, because of it's clunky method of matching each combination of prefixes & suffixes in a hierarchy fashion... Why can't we choose from a list of prefixes & suffixes directly, instead of rely on this unpredictable trial & error process? Well, here is a trick that will allow you to do just that!

A. Setup Autocomplete Server Name Menu
If you don't know how to edit menu setup, read this TUTORIAL before you proceed further...

1. First, open the standard_menu (1).ini with text editor.
(Renamed standard_menu (1).ini to something else to prevent Opera from overwrite it)

2. Next, create a new section with this code

[Autocomplete Server Name Menu]
Item, "1 www + .Com"=Autocomplete server name, "http://www", "com"
Item, "2 www + .Org"=Autocomplete server name, "http://www", "org"
Item, "3 www + .Net"=Autocomplete server name, "http://www", "net"

3. You should add more variety of prefixes & suffixes combination into the list as needed. Adding number before each command is optional, it allow you to select 1st ten combinations from the list with numeric keypad. Save & close the document when you're done editing.

4. Now, fire-up Opera & select the newly modified menu setup in Opera to apply the changes you just made. It's not over yet, you still need to setup a hotkey to evoke this list from the Address field!

B. Setup Hotkey
1. First, go to Preferences (Ctrl+F12) > Advanced > Shortcuts > Keyboard Setup.
(& create a new keyboard setup, if you didn't do that already)

2. Next, double-click on a Keyboard setup you want to use, & go to Advanced > Address Dropdown Widget section.

3. Finally, create/modify a shortcut with your preferred Hotkey with the following action:

Show popup menu, "Autocomplete Server Name Menu"

C. How It Works?
Just evoke the Autocomplete Server Name Menu via Hotkey & pick a desired prefixes & suffixes combination from the list. Personally I setup F1 to do so, because I won't access Opera Help from the Address field anyway, & F1 is just above the numeric keys...
