I like to think I'm a fairly broad-minded and tolerant kind of chap. However, I draw a line when it comes to most (if not all) forms of hocus pocus and spiritual mumbo jumbo, including (and especially) anything to do with horoscopes and star signs.
I mean, frankly, what a load of tosh. All intended to delude people into believing that anything guides their fate aside from randomness and free will.
Here's a couple of examples of freely available horoscopes for my star sign (Aries) for today:
http://my.horoscope.com/astrology/free-daily-horoscope-aries.html"It may be time to cut back, but if it is, try to have a plan. Come up with a goal the same way as if you were moving forward. Make a goal to gain something by cutting back can ultimately put you in the black where you don't have to cut back anymore."http://horoscopes.astrology.com/dailyaries.html"You're starting fires everywhere you go today - but they are inspiring creativity, not panic! Your amazing energy is perfect for getting others to think about who they are and what they want to do."What utter nonsense! These vague positive statements could probably apply to any day of the year to any person - wtf have they got to do with stars, signs or anything else?
I guess these are examples of what could be described as 'entertainment' horoscopes - probably poo-poo'd by believers of 'real' astrology. I think of them more as the 'thin end of the wedge'. The more you wrap this nonsense up in 'mysticism' the more gullible people can assign some kind of authority to it.
Ok rant over. I guess everyones entitled to their fantasies, beliefs and delusions - as long as no-one gets hurt. Oh damn it, I'm getting all reasonable again.
