stuff and nonsense...

I'm highly skeptical of horoscopes

,

I like to think I'm a fairly broad-minded and tolerant kind of chap. However, I draw a line when it comes to most (if not all) forms of hocus pocus and spiritual mumbo jumbo, including (and especially) anything to do with horoscopes and star signs.

I mean, frankly, what a load of tosh. All intended to delude people into believing that anything guides their fate aside from randomness and free will.

Here's a couple of examples of freely available horoscopes for my star sign (Aries) for today:

http://my.horoscope.com/astrology/free-daily-horoscope-aries.html

"It may be time to cut back, but if it is, try to have a plan. Come up with a goal the same way as if you were moving forward. Make a goal to gain something by cutting back can ultimately put you in the black where you don't have to cut back anymore."

http://horoscopes.astrology.com/dailyaries.html

"You're starting fires everywhere you go today - but they are inspiring creativity, not panic! Your amazing energy is perfect for getting others to think about who they are and what they want to do."

What utter nonsense! These vague positive statements could probably apply to any day of the year to any person - wtf have they got to do with stars, signs or anything else?

I guess these are examples of what could be described as 'entertainment' horoscopes - probably poo-poo'd by believers of 'real' astrology. I think of them more as the 'thin end of the wedge'. The more you wrap this nonsense up in 'mysticism' the more gullible people can assign some kind of authority to it.

Ok rant over. I guess everyones entitled to their fantasies, beliefs and delusions - as long as no-one gets hurt. Oh damn it, I'm getting all reasonable again.

Seize the fridge!

The fridge has spoken. Heed the fridge.

mighty parsnip harvest

,

I have finally harvested the last of my parsnips. Check out this beauty...all 572g!

I seem to be attracting animal deaths.

, ,

This morning I was greeted with the depressing task of boxing up the neighbour's rabbit, who had expired at the bottom of our garden sometime during the night. rip

Poor little fella looked like he succumbed to exposure to the cold and wet weather :frown: Silly neighbour should have made sure he was in his hutch methinks.

All pretty sad, but what's coincidental is, that this isn't the first animal death on our property in the last few weeks - so far we have clocked up one pigeon and a mouse. If we keep working up the evolutionary scale...what's next?

my fish is constipated

,

busy week this week - lots on at work, mother in law up to stay, new broadband at home, more decorating etc.

worst of all though is that 'harry' (our fish) appears to be constipated. nothing is coming out the 'other end' and he's getting rather bloated. so... i visited local pet store and they have sold me some living food for the wee fella 65p of blood worms - apparently these might help with his movements... we'll see. don't want to see this fish go the same way as his predecessor 'hank' (a very sad story for another time).

weather is depressing and so is the darkness. think a lot of people i know suffer from s.a.d. the general level of discontentment has risen substantially!

goodness knows what these chaps are talking about in the background...
