When you learn to play acoustic guitar it's a good idea to learn all the different techniques as well as practice as many songs as one can. If you are starting out it can be a bit overwhelming to choose which songs to learn that's why I have a few easy guitar songs I want to you to check out.

The first song I usually teach my beginner students is "Stand By Me". The all song is very easy and has been written using just 4 chords. Another bonus when learning this song is that the same chords structure is used on many different songs, so when you learn it you can literally play "I Believe I Can Fly", "Lonely", "Every Breath You Take" and the lists carry on.

Bob Dylan is one of those singer that has been writing great songs using just few simple chords. I would advice to learn a few of his tracks as well when starting out. He had many huge hits and many well known artists have covered his music over the years, including Guns & Roses and Jimi Hendrix. Some of the songs I recommend are: Blowing In The Wind, All Along The Watch Tower and Knocking On Heaven's Door.

If you are looking for simple songs than you should listen to British bands and the number one is obviously the Beetles. They have written many hits some of which are not so easy to play. Some of the titles I recommend you learn to play are "Hey Jude", "Let It Be", "Here Come The Sun" and "Yesterday". Their music is not always that simple and they do use more complicated chords, so you better practice your chords my friend!

Other great bands that are renown for making great music with few simple chord progressions are U2 and Cold Play. Recently I decided to shoot a video on "Clocks" by Cold Play and I was amazed how simple the song really is to play on guitar. The same applies here, 3 easy chords and a riff (using the same chords by the way) and off you go.
