Mark & The Norwegians

Much Ado About Something--I'm Just Not Sure What It Is . . .

Again, no diet coke in the shoppette., I'm beginning to think it's a conspiracy. Unfortunately, this forces me to buy Norwegian Coke-Light, which just isn't the same, and costs a lot more--argh!

Surprisingly a sunny day here in Stavanger. All the Ikea-visiting Norwegians are apparently on the roads driving around to see if the sunshine extends beyond where they were or not. They gaze into the sky with puzzled looks on their faces wondering why the sky changed from grey to blue.

Not much to report today. Two of my three computers are working. Spent much of the day making sure they printed to printers, learning how to make a photocopy, make a local phonecall, and pretending to know what folks were talking about.

My "personal staff" in the "front office" handle the admin for the division. Very nice ladies--they steer me in the right direction on office questions, etc. We are just beginning the "holiday" vacation season, so many of the personnel in the division are out or departing next week, so hard to have some kind of massive inbrief. So, I'll try to learn what each of the branches does bit by bit.

All for now . . .

And back again. They've been doing construction right behind the hotel building I'm staying in. Constant noise and breaking up of concrete. To top it off, a fire alarm this afternoon. So I decided to go to Stokka Vatnet (Stokka Lake or Pond?) to go running. Well, at least 10 KM later I got back to the car--O.K., might've been less than 10, but not much. Nice path through the woods, etc. around the lake. Lots of Norwegians out walking or riding bikes--the ones not shopping at Ikea or clogging up the countryside trying to find their Hytte's, of course.

Hope all is going well at home for the final move?
