Back again after a brief hiatus.
Dinner last night at some fellow new arrivals' apartment. Very nice to have a social conversation and a cooked dinner.
Went into the parking garage/bunker this morning to find a 500 NOK parking ticket on my windshield since I had forgotten to put the parking pass in my window--argh!! No option but to pay it as I found out by talking to the parking garage company guy as it is my responsibility to display the pass. Went by a bank at the airport to pay the bill via giro, and paid a 50 NOK fee for them to process it since I don't yet have an account, etc.
Filled up gas at 11.35 NOK/liter. Interesting factoid seems to be that gas prices raise at the beginning of the week, gradually getting lower by the end of the week, and seem lowest on Saturday. Thus I saw prices last Monday at 12.25 NOK/liter, and now it's almost 1 NOK/liter less on Saturday. It clearly pays to watch the pricing. In any case, it's well over $100, probably closer to $120-$130 to fill the tank--so don't feel so bad next time you fill up in the States.
Took a few photos (not to exciting today). They're loaded on the photo page, so won't put them here as well.
Dinner tonight at some other friends' house, so home-cooking again. Folks are indeed very geneerous and social within the small community here, which is nice--lots of parallels with Kuwait in some ways.
All for now . . .
