Much Ado About Something--I'm Just Not Sure What It Is . . .

Well, if anyone is still actually reading this . . . or if you're like my brother and me and have figured out to hook up an RSS feed, then you don't have to check the site itself and be disappointed when there's nothing new--instead it searches for you . . . in any case, this is way overdue.

It has been one week since the family arrived in Stavanger, and they haven't really suffered appropriately. Extremely mild jet-lag, nice weather, even some non-Mom-cooked meals--somehow, I feel mildly cheated by it all. But I am glad they seem to integrating well. And most of all I am glad to be with my family agains--it has basically been over 4 months with just one week of togetherness in all of that time, so . . . it's nice.

The house (or, hovel as I call it) meets with guarded approval from family. Many little problems, but it should be generally live-able. Kids all seems to like the bedrooms I picked for them, even with the sloping roof. Elizabeth and I decided to move upstairs into the (small) master bedroom because of closet space. This actually gave me quite a nice study downstairs.

Elizabeth is madly trying to figure out appliances from the few internet Norwegian pages we can find. Still can't make the dishwasher do anything. Still no internet, telephone, or Norwegian D-Number to establish a bank account--but I understand the D-Number may be on its way. We also got kind of a starter pack for internet, which makes me think I'm still in their system--now we wait for the installer dude to come.

No news on our household goods, but between furniture already in the house, the loaner stuff we were issues, and a few Ikea purchases, we're really pretty functional.

Angel has been an absolute pain--wants to go out, but only with someone staying outside with her, etc. She was also instrumental in an unplanned meeting of our back-side neighbor. Maybe I can help her run away?

Have met with pastor and his wife and youth pastor and wife, so think we're on a pretty good path toward making the church our church home.

Got to go on a mini-fjord cruise/farewell barbecue for my outgoing boss. The director hosted the event on a small Norwegian patrol boat we have access to. His chef, and staff catered the barbecue--quite nice event. Unfortunately Elizabeth couldn't go due to no phone in the house and the possibility of emergency occurring with the kids. One of those responsible, but painful, decisions you have to make as a parent.

On to week #2 of 156. We are praying for our stuff to arrive quickly, our internet and phone to be set up expeditiously, and the much-fabled D-Number to arrive.

All for now . . .
