Much Ado About Something--I'm Just Not Sure What It Is . . .

No blogging in forever . . . must mean life has returned to normal (i.e., that Norway is now "normal" for us). We have our stuff, our house, our car, and unfortunately (the hound). Now we are starting to have our routine.

Nothing much to report--certainly nothing exciting. A few colds here and there. I've taken up squash at the local sports club, playing about once a week. Very different than racketball--slower ball, different rules. Similar in that one plays in an inside court, uses a racket, and whacks a small rubber ball--but that's about it. Am playing the pastor of our church, and he's much better than I, but he has patience, and I work up a sweat, so . . . we'll count it a success.

Cleaned out the garage--or at least put it in order--today. Elizabeth ordered two "farvn's" of firewood the other day (something like a U.S. chord, I think) for heating the house this winter. There is a wood stove built in to the middle of our living room by the stairs, and we think this is the primary way they heated the house, as there are a few electric baseboard heating strips, but otherwise nothing. Utility rates are really due to spike this winter, so we're not lookinf forward to the bills.

Am headed to London on Thursday/Friday, then Estonia on Sunday/Monday. Finally, Rome at the beginning of October. I'll then fly to Sweden to pick up my new Volvo (wanted a BMW, but common-sense, budget, and reason--i.e., Elizabeth--prevailed); will drive back to Oslo and meet rest of family there. They will be doing the tourist thing in Oslo (will take train there). We will all crowd into the small Volvo and drive back to Stavanger--hopefully it will all work.

Here are a few photos we took today at the 3-swords monument.
