Understanding What the Furminator Is?

Your dog is your best friend, and you want to take the best possible care of him or her. A pet lover knows that playing with your dog as often as possible makes both your dog and you happy, and the moment something is wrong you both know it. Keeping your dog in good health and in good grooming condition is part of your expression of love for your pet. Just as the food you give your dog is selected with care, the grooming implements must be carefully chosen. Each dog is different and each dog owner's lifestyle will determine how, when, and with what the dog is groomed.

I had seen the Furminator commercials on television and it looked great, but because it was one of the "As Seen On TV" advertisement I was a little skeptical. During the summer last year though, when the shedding problem was the worst, I gave in and bought one. When it arrived it didn't look like anything special, just another version of a metal dog comb. The first time I used the comb it took out the most excess fur, and during successive grooming the amount of fur it removed began to decrease. I typically comb my dogs about once a week, which is my best estimate for grooming them based on their needs.

Ok, so let us try and understand the Furminator a little better. This a very special tool that will delve into the undercoat of your pets and helping remove all of that hair that is about to fall. Do not worry about how your cat or dog will feel, as this is a process that doesn't involve any type of pain. It's quite the opposite, as you will see that your pet will just lie down and ask you to do that for the rest of the day. The Furminator is a patented tool and you will never have to worry about using it. It features a very nice handle that will offer a solid grip and it is lightweight.

With some breeds shedding may not be very much of a problem. If, on the other hand, you have a longer haired or shaggy variety then you may end up spending as much time with your vacuum cleaner as you do with your pooch. Some breeds seem to walk around leaving in a cloud of fur behind them. Grooming will help but most brushes only tackle the topcoat and not the undercoat where the majority of the loose dead hair is to be found. The result is that your pet continues to shed.

There are several deshedding tools available and the best known of these is probably the Furminator. Despite the somewhat gimmicky name this product is first class and really does live up to its claims, getting a large number of very positive reviews from pet owners. The Furminator is available in small medium and large to suit the breed of dog you happen to own plus there is a special version for cats. If you happen to own a horse they do an equine model too.

Users report that the Furminator removes far more hair than standard brushing, reduces shedding significantly and is an enjoyable experience for their pet.
