Sick Doll (Photo Trip)

I feel so sorry for this poor, sick doll.
Maybe I should send her a card or something.

Got together with my friend Sean on Saturday. We stopped for coffee and
shot the shit a little. Then we hopped in his ultra-cool Subaru and drove
down to the near west side of downtown Spokane. It was cool and overcast,
perfect picture taking weather, and best of all the whole area seemed devoid
of people for some reason -- it was almost as if we had reserved the place.

Sean took his big gun, the Nikon D200. I used my derringer, the Sony W100.

Here are a few more shots from the trip. The person you see standing against
the building is Sean, making some adjustments to his camera.

I like the moodyness of the last photo. The industrial-age remains just lying there, abandoned in a world of information technologies and knowledge-economies, look very out of time.

Because the buildings are reflecting in the water, that adds to the alley-like impression, making me think of us humans passing through one age after the other - forgetting about what we did as soon as we have passed it.

And maybe I´m being totally wrong - it´s probably not old industrial buildings in the first place, and I might be the only one aound seeing the photo like that.

But I do just that anyway

Oh, they're old all right. Most of them are still used for one purpose or another, but they're old. The strange thing about downtown Spoane is that the streetfront sides of a lot of the buldings have been (sometimes) fixed up a bit. But then you get back in the alleys and it is exactly like you say -- rather this strange and seductive going back in time type thing.

And as for your "seeing" things, I would both pretty much expect it and love reading such. Thanks for commenting, Allan!

Great photos!!!!

The first one - reminds me of the Doll Hospital that exists in Lisbon. A very interesting place... :D

I also like that last shot, it is sooooooooooooo moody... :D

Thanks, Isabel. I think I've heard something about that doll hospital, somewhere in my mental journeyings.
