My Christmas Wish List

My tiny Christmas tree.

Well there's no doubt that my Christmas Wish List last year got a little
carried away
. This year I have decided NOT to start out with wishing for
Drew Barrymore. I think that might help some. I'm going to try to tone
it down this year and be a little more realistic.

My first wish is for a coloring book. And with the coloring book I would
like some toxic Chinese crayons, not the non-toxic crayons they make in
the U.S. now that are safe to eat but can't color worth a damn.

There, that's not so bad, is it? In fact I think I could wish for a few
other things too, seeing as the coloring book and the toxic crayons
wouldn't take up much space under the tree. So I think I'll wish for
that Carhart jacket I've been wanting for a good while now.

I think too that I'll wish for a new hat to go with the jacket. That only
makes sense if you stop to think about it. So I'm wishing for a new fedora.

That fedora, it just seems to sing out for something to set if off besides
the jacket. In fact for some reason it makes me think of ponies. I never did
have a pony when I was a kid. So I think I'm going to wish for a pony.

Now if I'm going to be riding around looking really cool on my pony, it
would be nice to have some hot babe along with me to say something like
"Hey, Ed, can I get a ride on your pony?!" I tried to imagine what hot
babes there were out there that would say something like that, and all
I could come up with was Fairuza Balk. So I guess I'm wishing for Fairuza
too.

Oh who am I kidding, there's no way Santa is going to bring me Fairuza
Balk and a pony. And I don't think they would fit under my tiny tree
anyway.

But I've still got my Christmas puppy -- my dog Baron, even if he is
almost 15 years old now. And I have my mom and my sister and nephews.
I'm also lucky to have several good friends, Sean and Ryan and John, and
my BFF Julie. I might only have a tiny Christmas tree, but surrounding
it my life is full of wonderful things and people who I love. So I think
this is going to be a really good Christmas. Even without the pony.

My dad asked for a pony for Christmas one year. I went out and found a beautiful chocolate-colored stick pony at Wal-Mart. He loved it! So did his grandkids!

Merry Christmas, Edward!!!

Why you too, Isabel, to "you and yours" as they say. It's the Winter Solstice, too, of course -- me and Julie will be having our holiday exchange then.

John writes:

Beautiful words my brother. I really can't remember the last time I laughed through tears like this. Many emotions. I love love you Ed!

Your Brother and Friend,
John
