Strange that you should say that, Allan. IMO Japanese lenses are very sharp and very "true to reality." WYSIWYG. Zeiss, it doesn't exactly do that. It interprets, and adds its own brand of poetry to reality. For BW at least, usu. pushes down more towards the toe. But also with a kind of ambiance about it. Leica does similar. My theory? -- It's the coating on the lenses, which is still essentially the same as it was in the 50s.

@ Darko. Thanks. That's an old rattly chair that I call my "$5000 dollar chair" because we got this crazy theory that it at one time a long time ago belonged to the Governor of Washington. Which it certainly didn't, but it's nice thinking about.

The mouse-bone safe is on the wall facing the end of the bed. It's not very exciting, but a little later (have to go to the doctor right now) I will take a picture of it and put it up here.

Miss Scarlett is fine, but my mom right now is watching Far and Away, with the young Nicole Kidman. Ah, cornsilk Australian blonde. Can't beat that with a stick. She'd probably take up every inch of that little bed, too, she's so tall.

And, since my original photo was in black and white, I suppose I should really throw in this one as well. Just to get them to match, of course. No other reason.

Nicole would make a very good Miss Corn Muffin.

And BTW, I did a detailed analysis of a large group of celebrities based upon a group photo in Vanity Fair, including Nicole and also Uma Thurman, and found that Julianne Moore has the longest legs, even though she is only 5'4". Interesting, huh?

Hopefully, I'll be able to get around to some people's blogs tomorrow, too. I'm still hiding in the cave from the heat. I thought I had jury duty coming up tomorrow, but they just called and cancelled. I was frankly disappointed. I could really have used the money.

Angeliki, lapis is my favorite stone, after rubies. I would really have a lapis bathtub if I could afford it. I guess I'll have to settle for a few loose stones to scatter on my windowsill, just 'cause they're pretty.

I find it sophisticated, amazingly strong and beautiful.

Well, the one with the beer is good; but that's all it has is beer. Then there's the one with the blue ceiling, which is quite beautiful and reminds me of Egypt, but a little too out of my league. There's the one with the brown water...babe or not, NO BROWN WATER. In fact, preferably no water at all. And the one with the cats is certainly cute.

But I think I'd have to go with this bathtub with Poppy Montgomery. It's got about everything...Australian redhead, tequila, no water...now we just have to get rid of that guy...

Incidentaly, "lapis" means "stone" in Latin. The Philosopher's Stone was the lapis philosophorum.

I do know that Viagra was originally prescribed as a heart medication. My own doctor told me that if I wanted to do Viagra occasionally (this is a very funny story) that I would have to check into the hospital for 12 hours, then they would give me Viagra and monitor my heart and blood pressure etc.

My thought was that there had better be a lot of hot nurses around if they did that.

Now, I'd bet you would think that at this point I would post some sleazy photo of a hot nurse, right? Well, I'm not. I'm going to be good!
