In the tradition of Pimp My Ride and Trick My Truck, I decided to
get down and pimp my Blackberry a bit.

Originally I had thought that I wasn't going to mess with the thing.
Keep all the defaults, no additional apps, keep the native Blackberry
screen theme. In other words, mess with it as little as possible.

But that lasted about till the next tide came in. And so when my new
rubberized skin arrived for the phone that was the perfect excuse to
change some things. And so I decided to do a Pop Art, Andy Warhol type
theme.

You can see the result above. A bit gaudy, but it wouldn't be Pop Art
if it weren't a bit toward the gaudy side. I might not be finished with
the whole pimping process yet. But for now I'm happy with it. One thing
is for sure, the thing doesn't scream out "Old fart's phone" like a
couple of other ideas I had.



And by the way, I apologize for the quality of the photo. I'm not an
advertising photographer. Or any type of photographer really. And I
also missed the fact that the skin had slipped a bit on the bottom. And
that the screen needed to be wiped off a bit. And the color balance is
off just a tad -- the skin is a deeper color than that, more of a wine
red. And of course then there's the glare.

Jeez. Trust me, it looks better in person.

I didn't know that. I guess that kinda tells you how much I know about cell phones. :D

When Kenny (my grandson) was in the hospital, I bought one of those pay-as-you-go phones to keep everybody informed as to how he was doing. I only "reloaded" once more, when I made an out-of-town trip, in case my car broke down or something. Before that, the only cell phone I had ever had was one of those Motorola flip-phones that weighed a couple of pounds back in 2000. That was because my ex and I owned a construction company and needed to be in contact pretty much constantly.

Do you have one of those Bluetooth thingies? Every time I see one of those, it reminds me of the ER episode where Dr. Carter pulls a huge cockroach out of a woman's ear.

Hey, I think I had one of those cell phones, in 1999. Seriously. And it was big, wasn't it? And I was always going over my minutes on the thing.

No, I don't have the bluetooth ear bug (aka cockroach) or whatever it's called. I don't spend enough time on the thing to have one.

Yeah, Edward, that phone was pretty big. It got hot when you talked on it for a while, too.

I called Malaysia on mine a couple of times when we were building grain storage tanks there. :eyes: I didn't think it would do that, but it did.

They were great phones, I tell ya'.

I remember calling on mine from the radiology unit at Sacred Heart Hospital. Not very many phones back then could do that.

I guess I should be happy that I didn't microwave my brain.

i like it. i like it plenty. marilyn is a great icon for a red phone. but you will get tired of it probably and put a leaping white shark in there or some such thing. :cool:

I remember the first "mobile" phones were huge klunkey things that for me took both hands to hold the hand set, and the rest of the stuff that made it operate came in canvas bags and everything stayed inside that bag, usually setting on the console hump on the floor of the car. I never owned one. I have always hated phones.

I was out of a phone for 3 days because of equipment failure, so today I decided I would find out how much it would cost to get my little Nokia Altel pay-as-you-go phone reactivated. I let it lapse after I was laid off my job.

Shuckins! They wanted nearly $60 to reactivate the thing and give me $20 worth of minutes. Sheesh! No thanks. I can buy a whole new one with minutes for less than that.
