Pat Maginess: Private-Eye

Hard Shelled Detective Fiction by Edward Piercy

Internet Junk Drawer 9

I have been getting perilously low on memory on
my laptop lately. I went through and deleted all
the programs and files that I reasonably thought
I could, but that only lasted so long. As a result
I had no choice but to transfer 24 file folders,
mostly containing images that I got off the internet,
over to the external drive I used when I transferred
files from my desktop.

All that was left to do then was to delete the
files on the laptop to free up some memory. But
before I did that I decided to go through and
cull some photos from the folders for a Junk
Drawer post.

When all you got is lemons you make lemonade, yeah?

A very hot photo of Marguerite Churchill, 1933.

The young Diana Rigg (aka "Mrs. Peel").

Farah Fawcett hanging ten.

Must be with "The Mongrels" biker club.

A curious cat. A little too curious.

Don't even ask!

The great bluegrass banjo player Earl Scruggs.

Kirsten Dunst seeing what develops in
Crazy / Beautiful.

Paris Hilton in Dubai.

I think she looks very nice in this one.

In Dubai, Paris is probably considered
to be a poor person.

Marilyn Monroe in the subway.

I love this photo, with the guy turning
in the distance.

Natalie Portman as MM in The Professional.

Natalie again.

(This one for Allan.)

Miranda Richardson.

I love ginger bread!

From a film festival in Seattle.

A Belgian Egyptologist, date unknown.

Temple of Edfu, Egypt, date unknown.

Kangaroos at the pyramids? Sure, why not.

World War One has come and gone. The pyramids
are still there.

A statue of the great geologist Louis Agassiz
fallen off a building at Stanford during the
great earthquake of 1906.

Photographer Ansel Adams and Virginia Best
getting married, 1928.

"I believe in beauty. I believe in stones and
water, air and soil, people and their future and
their fate." (A. Adams)

A beautiful photo by Nina Leen that appeared
in Life magazine in 1949.

As is the custom, we conclude with a sleazy
photo of some actress or celebrity. Here it
is Natalie Portman again, talking on the
phone and...well, jeez, I don't know what
she's doing.

Pulling her panties out of her crack.

L2D2 8. July 2009, 18:43

Sorry, that was a bit crude.p:

gdare 8. July 2009, 18:51

 @ Louis Agassiz - once geologist, always geologist P:

As for last photo... I don`t even want to know :insane:

edwardpiercy 8. July 2009, 18:54

@ Linda.

Crudity? On this blog? I'm shocked, totally shocked!

p:

@ Darko.

Kinda ironic, isn't it?

Wait a minute, maybe it wasn't the earthquake at all...maybe he was pushed.... ?

thetomster 8. July 2009, 19:07

 Diana Rigg ... hm, I was in love with her ... whenn I saw her the first time as Emma Peel

edwardpiercy 8. July 2009, 19:09

She was the coolest.

L2D2 8. July 2009, 19:12

I remember her. Wasn't she tall?

edwardpiercy 8. July 2009, 19:15

5'8-1/2". If you ever want to find out how tall an actress is, go to IMDB.

L2D2 8. July 2009, 19:21

I bookmarked that Edward. I am not into celebrities but that would be an interesting site to explore at my leisure. Thanks.

thetomster 8. July 2009, 19:24

174 cm ... each one worth every look

edwardpiercy 8. July 2009, 19:35

Of course she was a bit taller in her leather ass-kicking boots. :D

thetomster 8. July 2009, 19:37

:D taller ... and moving in that quite special way ... as you mention ... ... I remember ... :D

ellinidata 8. July 2009, 21:32

Mrs Peel has killer legs!

it was worth waiting Eddie!

thanks for sharing

I would have saved a few but I will keep my lap top's memory available for more red heads p:

Love ya!

edwardpiercy 8. July 2009, 21:44

You have to have priorities! That's probably what happened to most of my memory! p:

Stardancer 8. July 2009, 21:49

Cats have this thing about skirts. I don't wear skirts around cats anymore. I don't know how many hems I've had to repair after walking by a cat in a skirt.

I remember that shot of FF from the opening credits of "Charlie's Angels". She really rode that skateboard like a champ.

rip

Great shot of MM, too. I like the more natural photos of her. The glamour shots just don't seem to do her justice somehow.

edwardpiercy 8. July 2009, 22:23

I didn't realize the skateboard shot was from Charlie's Angels. Thanks for the info. She certainly fought hard for a long time.

I didn't know that about cats, either. p:

I have a good number more MM shots building up that I'll probably do on a post like the last one, most of them the informal ones; also a few more great butt shots of her that I'll probably go back and add to the MM butt post. Or maybe I'll just do a new MM butt post. "MM's Butt 2".

All of which sounds kinda weird in a way, doesn't it? Oh well, I'll gladly drop the pride when it comes to Marilyn.

Hope you are well.

PainterWoman 8. July 2009, 22:29

Hmmmmm.....I'd like to have that guy help me in the dark room like he's helping Kirsten.

Love the one of MM and the one of Natalie on the couch...but that pose looks mighty uncomfortable.

edwardpiercy 8. July 2009, 22:38

 And maybe he'd even help you "clean your brushes" after a painting session. p:

Natalie needs to stop by my place. My couch is bigger and I'm sure much more comfortable.

PainterWoman 8. July 2009, 22:55

ellinidata 9. July 2009, 01:25

the most elegant picture ever is the one by Nina Leen

L2D2 9. July 2009, 03:01

That was a very striking photo.

ellinidata 9. July 2009, 03:26

Linda, I agree the word "striking" is perfect!

Eddie check your email ..... :D

ricewood 9. July 2009, 05:49

Nice Natalie Portman photo taking away just a bit of the perfectness of it all :D

By the way, she did a very, very good job as a child-actress in The Professional. That's the character I associate her with mostly.

edwardpiercy 9. July 2009, 08:32

I really liked that movie. Jean Reno and Natalie were both excellent.

PainterWoman 9. July 2009, 08:39

That was a really good movie and you're right, they were excellent in it. I only saw the last half of it. How did she end up tagging along with him in the first place? Maybe I should rent it to see the whole thing.

edwardpiercy 9. July 2009, 18:39

Pam, the short answer is that her family is murdered. I won't say anything more as I wouldn't want to ruin it for you.

musickna 12. July 2009, 04:41

Great photos, Edward, but that one of Marguerite Churchill is something else! What a stunner!

edwardpiercy 12. July 2009, 08:10

Any relation to Winston? Hmmm, probably not.

musickna 12. July 2009, 15:04

Probably not - seems she was a Missouri girl. Today's Missouri girls do not seem quite the same! :D

Chas4 14. July 2009, 21:00

currency exchange rate making Paris a poor person

curiosity killed the cat satisfaction brought it back

wait till they come out with # 11 of hanna montana (had to look up to see how to spell it)

edwardpiercy 14. July 2009, 21:05

You mean that wasn't #11? Seems I missed a few then. p:

Stardancer 14. July 2009, 21:10

Curiosity may have killed that cat, but at least she died having known the thrill of discovery.
