A Walk to the Park

Last night I walked down to Coeur d'Alene park. Back in the day I
used to go there and take walks with my dog Baron. And me and my
now ex-girlfriend used to go there for neighborhood music events
and picnics.

But my walk there last night was not to reminisce. Nor was I seeking
any great illuminations or revelations. I simply wanted to empty out.

After a while spent in the park I walked home. I turned off the laptop
and put the cell phone in the bedroom to recharge and tried to forget
about it. I spent the evening with my mom and Sasha, sat on the couch
and watched some television. I ate a sandwich. The most ordinary things
imaginable: And the best things in my life.

I surely can agree to this ... the ordinary, little and simple things ... the best things in life ... we often forget about them and it to me it's always a very special feeling catching a moment or an hour to realize that they are always there ...

That's pretty much it, Dirk. My head just got "too full" with all this stuff I was doing on the phone yesterday relating to my old university and what I need to go back there... Just too much.

hm, sounds like a brief description of what's going on in my head when I come home from office ... five days a week ... 12 hours a day ... some might go to the park, I go to my.opera then (the park and the green fields are for the weekend

We all need time outs periodically, Edward. I think I might be getting ready for one. Then again, I might wait till my Family Reunion in Oct. That will give me time with almost my entire family, but away from the house, phones, tv sets and my computer. My friends will get a short vacation from me, too. and the negativity I have been feeling lately.

Short sabbatical.

Some of my favorite things to do are ordinary things. The person I work for pays me to do the simplist of things that he finds tedious, monotonous or boring.

A walk in the park, listening to the birds or just sitting and doing nothing at all is very relaxing. You can't help but recoup.

You know they had these new water fountain things in the park I think you would really like -- not the traditional fountain but like a fountain mobile, a couple of things shooting water and this stand with buckets that would fill with water and then when they got too full tip over and dump out and that kind of thing. Sort of a mechanical fountain. I wanted to take a picture of it but there were kids there. And you know how that goes these days. Maybe I can go back one afternoon when there's nobody there and get a shot of it.

There's a place near here kinda like that. I don't get there nearly often enough, just to "empty out", as you so eloquently put it. I like that: "empty out".

That's what I'm gonna do Saturday. Empty out.

Not moving yet. No definite date on that. Have to wait for the paperwork to get done.

I'm just taking everything off shelves, out of closets, out of drawers, washing everything down really well, and packing it up. I've got boxes everywhere. Empty and packed. Makes for an interesting obstacle course when I have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.

I think it's good for the mental health to do stuff like that once and again. Simple things. The essentials.

I don't do enough of it either, I think. *note to self...*

It's not bad, could be sharper -- but then so could my Sony. That's no Photoshop except for resizing, out of the camera it is 96 dpi so I change to 72. And I think I reduced the size a bit.

I know somehow Byron was too... He wouldn;t want you to avoid places you have been with him... that's like a tribute to him...
simple things that close a calm day, a walk , and especially spending time with your mom that loves you the most on this earth make me believe you did have a great after Bday day !

she will be better , especially after her operation, somehow the hormones change in animals,

off topic:

just keep her meals very small, female animals that are fixed gain weight much more than male... I see it in our cats,
same feedings
one is 18lb (the female) the other 12lbs. Both fixed but the hormones are soooooooooooo different ..

I've seen that happen too. And for dachshunds it is not good because of their backs. But to be honest I think Sasha could do with at least a little weight gain -- she's a total stick supermodel. We need to get her more like Miss Scarlett.

She will get a special new collar for Christmas I've already picked it out!

True about Dachshunds, Edward. They are very prone to spine problems. My great niece has one now named Sammy who can't walk because of damage to her spine, from age I guess. She is doing much better after three weeks, but still can't use her hind legs. They have to wait 3 more weeks to get her fitted with one of those little two-wheel carts that take the place of the back legs.

Do NOT overfeed her because much weight is very bad for their spine. She will beg, but you must be strong.

Philip Glass is coming in March. I'm waiting around till next Thursday to see if I can still get a ticket. I saw him in 87 and it was a good concert. Although I could have done without the smoke lamps and the pyrotechnics and the hot chicks hanging from...ooh wait, that was Marilyn Manson.
