UPDATE: Went to B&N and listened to a teaser of the performance you mention with the Consort of Musike. He has a very nice voice indeed, but to be honest the tempo is so slow that I think I would have fallen asleep if I had listened to the entire song. Sting's version may not have the better voice but I think it sounds more inspired. Just my opinion, of course.
