Opera tour at Gunadarma University

Today, Opera visited my campus, Gunadarma University as part of Opera tour at 11 universities in Indonesia. Because of limited capacity of the auditorium in Campus D, Depok, this event is a closed one for students and faculty only. Even for students we have to register first using the Gunadarma site.

The event was success, there were about 300 students there. The speakers have talked about the importance of using web standards for interoperability across browsers, especially browsers that adhere to these standards. When they were talking about web standard, actually it's about W3C standard. Unfortunately the most popular browser, Internet Explorer is not one of those browsers. To make our codes that follow W3C recommendation work on Internet Explorer, we have to put some hacks. Nasty hacks that make our codes cluttered. The speakers make some good point why from the beginning, students should build websites using codes that follow W3C recommendation.

Jah, I've forgot my camera.
