The Golden Apples

A bear raised Atalanta because her father wanted a boy and abandoned her. When Altalanta was older she decided to live on her own. Then a man fell in love with her but she didn't wanted to get married, so she ordered that if she deafeated a man in a race he would die, if she was deafeated in the race she have to marry that man.When a man named Hippomenes came to see the commotion he thought it was ridiculous idea. But once he saw Atalanta he wanted to marry her as well,sohe challanged her to a race.Atalanta agreed to the challange. Hippomenes on the other hand, was worried Hiippomenes really wanted to win, but did not know how, so he called for Aphrodite and she gave him three golden apples. The next day the race began Hippomenes took on of the apples and threw it.Atalanta saw the golden apple and ran after it, but then she ran ahead of Hippomenes. Hippomenes threw another apple and Atalanta did the same thing. Hippomenes threw his last apple as hard as he could. Atalanta then chased after the golden apple and he won. Hippomenes unfortunately,didn't give Aphrodite any offereingbecause she helped him.She became furious and summoned Artemis to punish them. Artemis turned Hippomenes and Atalanta into two lionsthat only could be tamed by her.
