Electronic toys Great New HP & Sony Releases

, , ,

Over the next few months we're set to see some big launches from some of the most well known and respected brands in the electronics industry. These two brands that I'm talking about are Sony & HP and in this article I want to quickly go over some of the features of these new launches.

HP has launched a new set of business LCD monitors namely, the LA1905wg, LA2205wg and the LA2405wg. These best LCD monitors have a quoted dynamic contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a static contrast ratio of 1000:1. They have screen sizes of 19, 22 and 24 inches respectively.

While the LA2405wg has a Full HD resolution, the LA1905wg has a 1440900 resolution while the LA2205wg has 16801050. These HP LCD Monitors pose a 5ms response time and come with HDMI inputs, DisplayPort, VGA and DVI.

The 24 inch LA2405wg is expected to have the best picture quality of all, as it has a Full HD resolution and a brightness level of 300cd/m2.

HP Compaq LA1751g and LA1951g were also announced, each of with 12801024 resolution and are of 17 and 19 inches in size. Other monitors introduced include the 20" LE2001 and the 18.5" LE1851w which have resolutions of 1600900 and 1366768 respectively.

Electronics giant Sony has announced that the production of large screen OLED TVs will face a delay this year.

This announcement came across due to fears that mass production of the wafer-thin displays might worsen Sony's losses at it's TV division. Sony's XEL-1, the first OLED TV to be commercially available did make many heads turn because of its ultra-thinness and a contrast ratio of over 1,000,000:1, but reportedly, it had a production yield of less than 60 percent.

The XEL-1 had a whopping price tag of over 3,000 to go with it, which could be the reason for the low production yield. It was expected that Sony would launch it's 27-inch OLED TVs by the end of this year, but the announcement has pulled the curtains over the 27-inch model, at least for now.

Speculations suggest that Samsung and LG could rush to take Sony's now empty space in the race for cheaper OLED TVs.

OLED displays do not require backlights, and are known to be ultra-thin and flexible with very high contrast ratios and low power consumption.
