It's hard being a mother.
It's hard to mother a newborn
When you are dog-tired
And both in tears
It's hard to mother a baby
When there is more to do
Than hours in the day.
It's hard to mother a toddler
When everyday is stormy
A battleground of wills
It's hard to mother a child
To be the one setting rules
The one that has to say no
It's hard to mother a teen
To stand back
Watching them break away
It's not hard to mother a Mother
It will only take a minute or two
To give her a hug
Or pick up the phone
And say
"Thanks for being my mum,
I love you!"

or my Grandma, and those who's mum isn't here. I realise it's not all celebrations.
xxxxxxxxxThe Love Inside
'Happy mother's day Mum'
I whispered to the air
She could not hear me
She was not there.
I bought her flowers anyway
And kept them in my sight
I placed a candle by the vase
And watched the little light
The card on the shelf
Was addressed to 'Mummy Dear'
But I had nowhere to send it
My mother was no longer here
But then I caught a glimpse of her
In the smile on my daughter's face
And I realised something special
Love transcends time and place
This mother's day I'll celebrate
All the love she had to give
Knowing that I carry it inside
All the days I'll live.

that's the view from my back bedroom. Snow! It's been snowing for hours and hours. Not since before I crawled out of the pit but not far off. Maybe I should get dressed and get out there... or maybe not. The Barbarian is out watching football and Groovy Chick is out with a friend but the rest of us are inside in the warm. Oh, we like the warm we does

I am on the phone trying to get through to the people wot own our 'ouse. ie, those who used to be the council. I have a lighting problem, or rather a no-lighting problem. The kitchen light fitting broke last year and we reported it to Nice Friendly Guy from the people wot own our 'ouse, as he was trying to collar me to answer questions on how wonderful their service was, or something.
The kitchen light is not very broken, it's a teeny weeny bit of metal that broke off. Unfortunately that teeny weeny bit of metal is the bit that holds the bulb in. Hmph. The dining room light fitting is not broken at all. Neither apparently is the switch, but something must but be broken because it is not switching the light on. So downstairs at the back of the house we have no lighting except for one over-zealous touch lamp that goes off if you so much as waft past it.
