more info about the band:
The Zimmers is a rock band unlike any other. This band has a whopping 50 members. And each one holds a distinguished title—elderly.

The name Zimmers comes from the British brand of metal-frame walkers. The lead singer, Alf, is 100. But he’s far from the oldest member. Buster (watch for the bushy beard) is a young-at-heart 101.

The Zimmers perform a cover of The Who’s My Generation. The video was featured in a documentary about Britain’s elderly. It was released as a single, reaching No. 28 on the UK Singles Chart

 Loved it! There was a woman singing that looked so much like my mom I had to pause it for a moment. I could totally see her doing something like this. I could see myself doing this for that matter. After I get my home remodeling done that is.

I was waiting for the bus once at the university. University Drive is a very busy street and one fancy car drove slowly by blaring some rap music. Not the awful kind with all the 'F' words. It had a great beat and I was tapping my foot and nodding my head. The dudes in the car saw me and got the biggest grins on their faces and gave me a thumbs up.

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 13:29

 thumbs up big time!

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 13:29

I can not even imagine how I will act in 60 years from now!
these guys put me to shame already! p:

lokutus_prime 16. June 2009, 14:38

"The name Zimmers comes from the British brand of metal-frame walkers."

I've seen them on TV over here in Britain several times.
They are remarkable and they have such zest and enthusiasm.

Allan 16. June 2009, 15:09

Magnificent!

Personally, I do numbers. Some things improve with age in my experience. Married life improves - when you're young, the women tend to be very shy and withdrawn. Coming of age, the male part slows down a bit and the female part becomes more active.

People tend to be able to meet in the middle of the road, so to speak.

And, yes - we can still also sing rock n'roll.

Darko 16. June 2009, 16:34

Beautiful post and video. I live with two old people, my grandparents are over 80 both and I know, in their hearts they are still young. It is only a body that is making a troubles.
Thanks for sharing this

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 16:41

Had to watch it on YouTube, the video in your post said invalid parameters.

Seen this before and loved it. Still loved it. Great to see it again.

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 17:42

:o: thanks Loku

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 17:46

@ Allan,

:sing: :sing: :sing: :sing: :sing: :sing:

the lust might become care and compassion but the
"rock n'roll" is more felt! I couldn;t agree more!

I feel that my thoughts in my 20's were way too different that they are in my 40's. not to mention feelings...

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 17:47

@Darko,

once I asked my late mom if the desire is still alie at 60..
She laughed and said " our bodies grow, our hearts have no age"

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 17:52

@ Carol,
I am glad you had a chance to enjoy again a worth watching video...

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 18:20

it always did Carol,
the problem you had was local

Dacotah 16. June 2009, 18:28

Oh? That's odd it said invalid parameters. Anyways.

Edward Piercy 16. June 2009, 18:31

I'm just glad they weren't doing The Full Monty at the same time. p:

PS. the bass player is simply awesome.

Thanks for posting!

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 18:34

It is OK Carol,
sometimes a slow Internet or a tired computer does that!
so far every body else had no problem... I am glad you did see it after all! I think it is not a big deal and I promise always to add the link to be on the safe side...

Angeliki 16. June 2009, 18:35

 thanks for commenting Eddie!
I am also glad they had all words written on paper! that made the recording go smooth too! p:

I notice the years past faster the older I get and it seems like there is less and less time to do what I wanted. Then I think about it and realize what I want has changed too, ugh life is so funny like that

I love their band and that is so cool they are rocking out!

Before I met my husband I was determined to be the lady with tons of cats and wear evening gowns while riding a bicycle. (I tell him he ruined my dream and he says I'm strange! )

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 00:55

"Before I met my husband I was determined to be the lady with tons of cats and wear evening gowns while riding a bicycle. (I tell him he ruined my dream and he says I'm strange! )"

 I don't blame you,
the combination sounds amazing!

as for the years going fast... sometimes people tell me :
wow! your children grow so fast!
to me it feels like ages...

I grow older fast! maybe because my life is so busy I have no time to think of days, months or even years!

I am blessed to be a healthy person,
when I was having a bad cold a couple of weeks ago and did stay in bed the days looked sooooooooooooooooo long!

if you had to live your very young years ,would you change anything?

scott cumming 17. June 2009, 02:29

that was fun. if i had it to do all over again, i don't think i would do it differently. maybe a few details, i might change if that wouldn't change everything else.

my old poem:

Old

My body is old. I am not.

I will wear long silk scarves of many colors

When 100 years have passed.

My hair will be long and white

My eyes will become translucent

Seeing the truth.

I will run fast with skinny legs.

My children's grandchildren

Will cherish me

As an ancient treasure.

I push them on the swing and sing.

They know I sing a song of sadness

Which is real.

All they care is they love me.

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 02:31

Eddie I was looking at a site and I found this "red head" I think you might like her:

Alicia Witt

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 02:33

awwwwwwwwwwww meli,
this is a very sweet poem!

"All they care is they love me."

yes!

Edward Piercy 17. June 2009, 02:59

That's a good one, Scott.

@ A.

Oh yes, Alicia. A natural redhead. And very talented. She plays classical piano.

You know Anna P. plays the cello. And she's a vegetarian.

Thanks for thinking of me!

I've been back in The Cave since noon. Not feeling the greatest. But I have a doctor appointment a week from tomorrow.

Well enough complaining. Kisses from Sasha.

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 03:22

kisses back at Sasha,
I hope you feel better Eddie,
and good luck tomorrow... *hugs*

Edward Piercy 17. June 2009, 04:21

That's so nice of you A, such nice and sweet and sincere thoughts.

Although I did think that it would be me you think of when you see a cat! p:

Doctor is 24th. I take the phone and this time will have something to do in the waiting room.

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 04:35

I hope too meli,
he is 22 and smart for his age ,
but at 22 we did not feel fear...
you do know what I mean....

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 04:45

Eddie,

have you ever been to Zaphira's blog?
she is the official Opera kitten

I am glad you enjoy your phone Eddie,
I really do.
I usually meet all the people at the waiting room
(if I ever go for an annual check up).

Last time I met two ladies,
one was telling me how Opera and Gail are more than friends and of course another was very much against the gay people.

When I told her that sometimes I use a man's bathroom she almost fainted

it is true when there is no available bathroom I will use a man's.

In her eyes I was sinful to the point of no return.
then the conversation shifted to
"if there is a cross dresser is it Ok to use the womens bathroom?"
I said "yes",
well that brought another 5 people into the conversation
yes,
I am a peoples person and before you know it I can be voted by strangers in a doctors waiting room
as "the most sociable member with a Greek accent "

now why did I share all these?

not a clue
not that you or anybody else cares anyway..
:D

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 04:47

PS

meli,

did you notice my comment in your latest entry?

Edward Piercy 17. June 2009, 05:14

I'm not so sure that anybody cares anout my BB I amsurely beating a horse to death.

But I liked your story it was great. And it makes me think of ideas I could bring up at the cardiologists. Like maybe I could turn to someody and say "Did you know that some hunter cultures would eat the hearts if their enemies? And the Aztecs would cut the living heart out of their victims?"

No maybe I shoulnt talk about that stuff huh. p:

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 05:26

hahahahaha that will not make you just the center of the waiting area gatherring but very memorable too!

Charles Schloss 17. June 2009, 06:12

what is this thing you call age

scott cumming 17. June 2009, 06:54

no meli  i haven't had a green alert in a few days. :faint:

Dr. John v. Kampen 17. June 2009, 09:49

Keep on moving keeps you young, seeking (more) knowledge or education permanente. The good thing when older is: you've seen it all at least one time... It is funny to see younger people make the same errors that you made at their ages. Even funnier: you can try and tell them, but they don't understand. I loved that movie, being 'an old rocker' myself.

lokutus_prime 17. June 2009, 10:52

Love your poem, Scott bro'

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 14:03

Chuck,
a three letter word, nothing less and nothing more! *hugs*

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 14:06

@ meli,

Opera plays games again,no?

have no worry,
I will always let you know

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 14:08

 John,
I feel the same when I see my teens make mistakes,
I guess it's not changing much even if the grow older...

Charles Schloss 17. June 2009, 14:18

this concept age this does not compute

Angeliki 17. June 2009, 14:40

nope,
and itll never will! :D

lokutus_prime 17. June 2009, 15:08

Hi John, didn't the same thing happen to some of us, in our generation?
I guess it's the same old story. Age brings knowledge, age brings experience, age mellows

Dr. John v. Kampen 17. June 2009, 16:07

Yes, Loku and Angeliki. We had to find out (the hard way at times) and see our kids repeat the same glitches. How we 'hung in the curtains' and how easy we take difficulties at our age. Angeliki still is way before that point and a teenie-weenie compared to us, of course, haha! We may laugh about the young(er) already and see them struggle with things for which we hold the solution...

p:

Charles Schloss 17. June 2009, 16:12

lokutus_prime 17. June 2009, 16:23

re "We may laugh about the young(er) already and see them struggle with things for which we hold the solution... "

 .. Yes John, but always and ever onward ships plough the same oceans ...and these are the voyages we all must make. "Rites of passage", if you will forgive my pun p:

Dr. John v. Kampen 17. June 2009, 16:32

Right you are! :D
