“The only disability in life is a bad attitude.”

Scott Hamilton

May wanted to give a disable child a chance to life. He was born with major disabilities, he was also autistic.. He wasn't able to walk till the age of 15. May adopted him, fed him, played music for him before bed every night. One night she thought the music she heard came from a radio
forgotten on. Little she know her boy was playing Tchaikovsky. His name is Leslie Lemke, and I believe he can be called "an amazing musician". Please meet May Lemke and her adopted son Leslie Lemke

Okay that is just... amazing. :eyes:

Seems God supplies these special people with extra talents to make up for what they are missing. Autism is becoming an epidemic in this country. Has to be from mother's diet or habits or something in the environment. It is very disturbing, but many of these challenged children have great talent in music or math. He sounds great!

This is a proof how little we know about brain and it`s capabilities. His soul felt trapped in that body and wanted desperately to find the way out. It surely did

Splinter skills.

I used to work with kids having splinter skills. One I knew, 8 years of age he was, knew the whole public transport time table of the whole metro area. I could ask him: If I stand on this square and want to get to this street, how will I do? And he'd go - Take bus nr 4 at 6:51, change to train number 8 at Station North at 7:23 and get off at this or that street at 7:35. Wait 11 minutes and take bus 115 northbound and you will be at your destination at 7:52.

He was also amazing. He had what is called Asperger's Syndrome - much like in the movie "Rain Man" if you ever saw that.

Hetero-Erotic Tendencies 20. October 2009, 08:54

The brain is always going to surprise us.

As I watched and listened to this video, I began to weep. I knew the Dao was speaking to us thru that boy and I was humbled.

PainterWoman 20. October 2009, 15:03

It is wonderful and fascinating when the genius in these children can be found and tapped into. Only then, can they truly progress. During the six years Suzy worked to get her Bachelor's and Master's in Special Ed, she worked with many of these children. It is a sad thing when these children become adults and no one sees their potential or has discovered that bit of brilliance in them. I believe that little bit of brilliance is in all of them. It is there for us to discover and for them shine.

Tyler Parke Young 20. October 2009, 15:17

Because they have none of the usual impemimentia, I think God is able to speak to us thru them and remaind us that everything has beauty.

Kimberly 20. October 2009, 15:30

wow

Tyler Parke Young 20. October 2009, 15:32

Yep.

Angeliki 20. October 2009, 18:13

thank you all very very much!
I am inspired and honored to post on this young man!

I also want to thank Allan (a.k.a. ricewood *see above* )
for his words in his post ,
that gave me a wonderful feeling today!

he writes in one of his comments:

" Well, seems to me that all this is beyond arguments. God gave us life for nothing in return. We can deal with it as we choose, and we bear the consequences -but to all the questions,no real answers. Acceptance before argument."

I find this comment priceless

Tyler Parke Young 20. October 2009, 18:15

As a Daoist, I can't argue with him.

Jurjen 20. October 2009, 18:53

For me this kind of things confirm that there are many forms of brilliance/intelligence. Being a great musician, having extensive math skills, being very socially communicative, memorizing everything you see, locomotion, all different facets of intelligence. Most have average of all those things, some have more from a specific skill.

I truly wonder if having more from one skill will always result in less development in other parts. Meaning we all have more or less the same brain capacity and in fact the same amount of intelligence. Some combinations of skills are perhaps more effective in our society then other and we call people with these combination intelligent, but I really wonder if that is correct way of seeing it....

I hope this makes any sense, my language skills are a bit behind so I might not be very clear :frown:

Tyler Parke Young 20. October 2009, 18:54

I don't know. Others have wondered about this same thing.

I couldn't agree more!
I took with John (Nepmak2000 ) a Mensa IQ test in his post. (For all of us that know John he is the brilliant mind he is beyond brilliance. )
There I added "a farmer is brilliant in his "field" too! ".
I feel IQ tests can not measure intelligence.
Our brains might be developed so far away in some areas that an IQ test can be a sky rocket number !

This young man is so gifted,
if it wasn't of his adopted mom to nourish it ,we would have never known!

I also believe that,
All kids are smart and gifted, if only they felt accepted and loved they will excel too!

she is the one that gave wings to this amazing young man. May is the one that made him love music by playing to him at bed time

Dr. John v. Kampen 21. October 2009, 06:50

I am moved by this GREAT find. For everybody there is a place under God's Sun, one needs only recognize and respect that. Like Allan 'Ricewood' I work(ed) with ADHD/Marasmus/Autistic youngsters and against all odds I have seen (what Allan also describes) hidden talents, extreme talents even. One needs only see them and utilize them, further them to -from there- expand the seemingly crippled wings and these kids CAN fly. It can not work 100% in all cases, but with love, dedication, great patience, coping with (many) disappointments but persistence much, yes much!, can be achieved. This woman shows SHE achieved the miracle with her love, persistence and trust, hitting the key of music as a means of communication. That is what moved me most. The brilliance and luminance of this woman sparked the few resources of her son, and from there -as I said- this spreads to other areas.
Few understand that just that is the reason why I am proud of my wife, who also achieved great things in that respect...
