Merry Christmas

Peace on Earth!

A find on ESPN videos that made me Cry!

 My i-friend Pam,
a.k.a. PainterWoman,
asked me last night the channel
that she can watch a fishing show.
My answer to Pam was ESPN2.
Pam's question inspired me
to search for more little gems on ESPN.
Yes, this is another post inspired by comments my dearest Opera friends
add in my previous
posts

I never expected my search on ESPN/YouTube to lead me to this video.
I never expected to be so deeply touched.
I know if you watch this video you will feel exactly as I did!
Thank you Pam for your question, It did lead me to a find
a video on Patrick Henry Hughes. An amazing young man that,
along with his dad make the impossible, possible!
A video that, I will cherish for the years to come...

My cousin, born three months premature, is blind. She has incredible musical gifts. She is a teacher. She is a wife and mother.

She is also a hero.

Nice post, Angeliki.

Angeliki, very amazing person and his amazing Dad.

Carol this is amazing!
thank you very much for sharing!
when I saw Clay moving on that pier deck,
I was breathless!
By looking only at his face and those long eyelashes ,
one can never suspect that his person will sign his book with his mouth,
and that he has turned his disability to an inspiration to the rest of the world!
simply amazing!
 thank you!

Angeliki 1. November 2009, 03:48

I am sure my ifriend Jurjen will never say again that "watching fishing is boring "

Carol 1. November 2009, 03:57

You are welcome Angeliki.
I saw it a long time ago on someone's blog, can't remember who's. I thought it might of been yours.

That was indeed inspiring, Angeliki. I am convinced that many times when God takes away in one way, he way makes up for it in others. Had this child been born normal physically, he probably would never have developed his musical talent, never been the inspiration that he has been for millions of people, and the father would have been just an ordinary dad without the great well of love and compassion that he has developed---all because this child was born blind and crippled.

Darko 1. November 2009, 07:33

Stuff like this mak you think. A lot.

What a heart warming and amazing story, Angeliki!
There should be more persons like the dad in this world, man, he really rocks!

I should not complain, can still stand up, but can't come close to Patrick in his music.

Allan 1. November 2009, 09:59

Why does this make you cry? Not that have anything against it, but we are looking at someone with special gifts and special restrictions, such as it's the case with all of us more or less.

Me, I say "Go, man - go" and clap my hands

simply because the human greatness is much greater than we even imagine...if that makes any sense ...Or maybe because in my life I have experienced situations that can come close to his

Angeliki 1. November 2009, 10:32

@ Carol,
some videos stay with us ,no matter how long it has been since we watched,
I am glad this was one of the ones you remembered, a great find and thanks for sharing with me

very true,
sometimes the credit goes to more than the disable, people around him were effected as much or close as much as he did by the disability. The father is a double hero, for the support he gives and for allowing Patrick to shine and get all the credit..

not many kids showed up ...

Both teens went to parties and after a long working day I was in my PJs... honest I had never enjoyed a bubble bath more in my life! I did pick on some candy but I ended the night with an apple drizzled with honey and cinnamon plus a 4 hour sleep (which is my normal )

tell me about yours ,
did you hit the bed yet ? any candy left to share ?

Carol 1. November 2009, 10:53

We had one person, an old guy from across the street that just moved in the neighborhood. Tons of candy left to share.
Apple sounds good, never had it that way.
Glad you enjoyed your bubble bath. Wish you could get more sleep.
Yep, I hit the bed, slept pretty good, for me that is. :D

Greeks love honey and cinnamon almost on everything!
our traditional dessert is,
yogurt with walnuts (optional) topped with honey...
I had no bkfst yet,
but after my Yoga class that starts in 30min I will... I work only 8 hours today from 10am to 6pm.. it seems like a great day ahead!

Amazing video(s)!!

I have to agree with this. Its actually funny when I would learn to play the piano and lets say I do it just as good or even better then he does, no one would even notice me. No one will think I'm special. And might be even more difficult for me, since I also see everything and need to process images as well. He can concentrate to only music.
I'm not saying its not amazing and that I'm not saying I don't feel blessed for being healthy. but you understand my point I hope.

His dad is actually more special and dedicated (same as in video of Darko)! Give that man a nice suit instead of living him on the field in an ordinary sweater!

I love you all, but watching fishing is boring!

Allan 1. November 2009, 12:54

Fishing is boring altogether. And you'll get the hook stuck in your thumb sooner or later.

PainterWoman 1. November 2009, 13:26

I saw a truly inspiring documentary on tv about this family. What a great gift this young man has and what a loving father.

Carol 1. November 2009, 13:46

Hi Angeliki

hi Amir

here is the story of the video :

Patrick Henry Hughes is a local celebrity in his home of Louisville, Kentucky.
He’s an accomplished pianist.
And he plays trumpet in the University of Louisville marching band.
He was born blind and unable to use his legs.
His family was devastated. But they soon discovered his musical ability.

Hughes and his father are a team. They attend class together and march in the band (he pushes the wheelchair while Hughes plays).
