Blog Action Day 2009, Climate Change , Industrial Damage

it is a fact that the human race living in the "Industrial period" in the US and the rest of the World,IS fully responsible for the destruction of the planet.

It is unfortunate to say the least,
that many times we humans are not in touch with our conscience, and we either do not see the problem we create,
or we do not wish to see the reality!
The reality is,the destruction is not only local but Universal.
The question here will be,
are our human mistakes ever going to be controlled?
or will they be fatal in 1000 years from now?
What if "man" faces the annihilation as a result of these mistakes?

It is sad to hear that in many International meetings the reduction of the carbon dioxide is set to 20-30% ,when many European countries
allow the industries to emit as much as carbon dioxide they wish without economical taxes or penalties.
Also a fact: 99.9% of the time no officials even participate in the environmental meetings!
Why are our International laws so weak?
Our bad treatment of our planet had a result of
a.The Greenhouse gases at their highest level in the 420,000 year of our planet existence,
b.The average level of the sea elevated by 10 inches in the 20th century,
and
c.the temperature increased by close to 7F.
As a result the sea level will increase by another 24 inches at the end of the 21st century ...

Throughout September 2007, intense fires burned across South America, and the skies were frequently thick with smoke. Carbon monoxide is one of several gases released by burning vegetation. Because of its relatively long lifetime in the atmosphere, carbon monoxide is a good tracer of smoke-related pollution.
Just imagine our temperatures reaching 130F
at the end of this century alone;
we will pretty much reach the temperatures of Venus ..
Unless we learn in time what we are really doing
and what we are going to end up with,
we'll simply continue to destroy our planet
and enter the road to no return!
LET'S NOT FORGET THIS PLANET DOES NOT BELONG TO US,WE INHERITED IT FROM OUR ANCESTORS AND WE HAVE BORROWED IT FROM OUR KIDS!

I was actually tempted to add a picture of statistics on Florida sinking,
but the visuals I ended up were more that I anticipated...

"Agent Smith: I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure."

We need a global effort to stop the global warming. Developing countries should adopt the environment friendly technologies from the beginning.

There is hope, and, as usual, it has nothing to do with politicians. It has more to do with local communities doing their bit. A good showcase of this is a program I've started watching recently called Costa's Garden Odyssey. Each week, he looks at different parts of Australia as they participate in community gardening, composting, water saving techniques, cooking and the more spiritual aspects of gardening.
You might like it.

You're right, but I also think many European countries are ahead with many environmental laws and economical taxes and penalties.
It's not without reason a lot of industries are moving out of Europe to the the east were there are hardly any rules.

I think knowledge and awareness is the only way to do it. Let people know that they are shooting into their own feet by not taking care of the nature.

There is still a lot to do. I think many eastern europe countries lack environmental rules as well. Western countries can force countries through the EU, which does kind of work.
I think western countries need to make the example, we cannot point to big industry countries like china or india. We started polluting, we became rich from it, now it's time to take action.
I don't think Dubai has many environmental rules. I don't think it makes such a great place to live neither....

ThanksKyren, I agree, but you'll need some force, without it there will always be people that think they can pollute a bit more (just your 'small' amount of pollution doesn't make a difference on a global scale) and have economic advantage to those that don't pollute. Fact is, almost everyone would think this way, which means no improvement. People are egoistic from nature, we just can't do it without rules

were eager to use any left over materials from computers ,phones, cars,
as a result they became the dumpster of the world,.
In addition the low wages made many industries move to these countries ,
and they ended up dealing with situations that did not see coming...
It is sad to see kids working in tho fields of used materials,
finding what ever can be used again,
when their small bodies absorb chemicals that will eventually make them VERY VERY sick

mmm, yes, this just made me think of something.
You have this brand that makes bags out of small pieces of plastics the very poor people in, I think Inda, find in scrapyards. It is supposed to be a very noble initiative, because it recycles the plastic, and it gives income to the poorest of poorest. But on the other hand, it also invites those people to walk around scrapyards all day, which is very unhealthy....
I can't really make up my mind whether this initiative is good of not...

I always have this strange utopian world view where there's always a scope for the good things. I have written in my blog the things you have mentioned, read it please, I'd complete the posts by the end of this month.

I have to say that over here awareness to the issue is spread by politicians, media and environmental organizations. I see around me these things really starting to work. People are wanting cleaner stuff now.
