Having already made prominent guest appearances on various artists' albums and served as Immortal Technique's right-hand man for years, Pen finally comes with his own release, Pick Your Poison: Mark of the East.

Kaman Leung - Lacrimal (2007)

Kaman Leung is known for his electronic hip hop eps that became popular in the past years in the underground hip hop scene. With his debut album "Lacrimal," Leung returns to more dubby and abstract soundscapes .While Leung is probably better known for his bassdriven hip hop eps, this nine track album release finds him waist-deep in electronic dub soundscapes. But Leung adds enough new elements to the genre -- from walls of mechanical noise, to subtle melodica lines, soulful detroit synths, and funky basslines -- to keep this release deep and demanding your attention listen after listen.
Kaman Leung is a Swedish Chinese producer who made abstract electronic hip-hop beats for the past decade. After a trilogy series of eps for his own Lacerated recordings imprint out in the UK and instrumental hip hop anthems with Swedish producer Gravity a few years back which was featured on DJ Krush’s Code 4109, Leungs new album maybe an essential release in the recent abstract hip hop revival.

Bambu - I Scream Bars for Children (2007)

Bambu...one part of the duo Native Guns

For some artists, making music is an escape from reality. For Bambu, it’s an opportunity to change the world. As a young boy raised in the Watts District of Los Angeles in the early 80s, there was equal parts tragedy and inspiration to draw upon. The oldest male of his family to make it past a violent death, Bambu became an unwitting participant in a lifestyle that many rappers glorify, but rarely experience. “The gang culture, the ‘street mentality’ that everyone talks about, I grew up with those codes, so it’s second nature to me.” A product of a broken home as well, Bambu learned to stop wasting his potential against his own community and began to change himself. Turning his destructive energy around and applying it to music was easy for Bambu, who was clever, resourceful, and remarkably literate as a youngster.

On April 29th, the 15th Anniversary of the L.A. riots, Bambu is releasing his second solo album …i scream bars for the children, a bracing, emotional, and oftentimes, lighthearted account of his experiences as an organizer, a nationalist, and a representative of collective struggle. “My politics play a huge part in my life, therefore, my life plays a huge part in my music. What’s even more admirable is the connection that his music makes to the larger community. “I just want people to hear my music and question what is going on in the world.

I dunny why I forgot about this source of hip hop. Maybe because I have been spending too much time listening to Cyberpunk audiobooks. I only have 2 ears. smile
