Yes! And I was going to ask, "Do you have extension tubes, or perhaps a supplementary close-up lens?" You seem to be able to focus in closer than I can, or so it seems.
And I was going to ask, "Do you have extension tubes, or perhaps a supplementary close-up lens?"
No, dW! I don’t use special equipment! I take these photos with the 55-200 lens. However, I think I get special filters for macro. Do you know about them? Of course sure!! Here in the local market, local photographers recommend to me some filters for 18-55 lens. But I think I need filters for the other lens (55-200) that has a diameter of 72 mm.. Could you give me your opinion?
Filters? I don't know exactly what you mean, Elina ... and so big! My 55-200mm lens has a filter thread diameter of 52 mm, as do all Nikon lenses, unless they are very special, indeed. Are these some colour-compensating filters that fit over the lens hood?
I keep a UV "Skylight" filter on both lenses, more or less permanently, just to protect the lens ... I'd as lief clean or replace a filter than the lens.
The supplementary lens I mentioned is a positive diopter lens (usually +1 or +2, etc.) that screws into the filter thread and enables you to focus closer, like a pair of reading glasses.
And extension tubes fit between your camera and the lens, effectively focusing the lens closer than what is built into the lens mount, by simply holding it out further from the CMOS. They come in sets of three, usually with lengths around 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm. If you get the ones that will enable your autofocus to work, and the meter, etc. etc. , they are more expensive (~$75/set). It's worth it though, because you don't have to fiddle the focus and exposure by hand (and head ... LOL).

Oooops.. I meant a 52 mm diameter, dW.. Well,I was referring to those filters. But I hadn't heard before about the tubes before you say.. I have to look for equipment that replaces the lens in a way!! For example, fisheye filters..
Hmm.. I'll try and see the results.. Anyway, this is an economical and easy solution! So, instead of buying some expensive lenses and carry all this equipment for a single photo, just looking for simple solutions!!!
Later ... just an afterthought, but the "normal" or "default" position on the auto Nikon lenses is with the diaphragm closed to its smallest opening, and if the lens is mounted backwards, the lever that actuates it is out in front ... boy, are you going to get some DOF, shooting at f/22 all the time!
@dW, sorry dW, do you mean that those filters are used in automatic mode? I only know about those filters is that you need very good lighting because they bind some amount of light. But I'll try to get other information! A good discussion is here.
All pretty much the same sort of thing, for different prices. Don't get the ones without the electrical contacts that match your camera and lens, or you'll go bananas trying to get the focus and exposure right. I think there are seven contacts on our cameras and lenses.
Anyway, when you put one of the rings on your camera, then put on the lens, you will be able to focus closer than the lens does by itself. But take it off for landscapes; it won't focus to infinity.
Also, on page 162 of your Reference Manual (the CD), it gives you directions for editing-in a fisheye effect.
And ... this is from page 253 of that book I sent you: The Nikon ones are 'WAY expensive, though.
So much information!!! I think these tubes are ideal for the work that I want to do!!!

Yes, indeed, there are 7 contacts!! Thanks for your advice and valuable help, dW!
P.S. You lose light with the tubes, because by moving the diaphragm farther from the CMOS, the f/stop is smaller (bigger number). Your camera can probably deal with it without any problem, but a tripod is a good idea.
dW, you're my first teacher because in my first steps about a year before, I met you!! So, the help that has given me, it seems from the results of my photography!!!
