I haven't visited the Opera Community for quite a long while. When I received a personal message today, I noticed that you added me as a friend back in August. Naturally this prompted me to visit your blog. Very intriguing.

In this particular post, I have to disagree with one premise of the speaker. He seems to draw a line between belonging to a large organized church and belonging to one's contemporary community. It doesn't seem to be an either/or thing to me. I would argue that one can become involved with one's community while belonging to a church, and that without the community of one's place of worship, being a "good community member" is just that and no more.

In the end, it would seem that the theme of the video is to take Christianity back to a village level thing. I agree that many good things could come of that, but many pluses of the larger church would be lost.

We could discuss this for a long period of time. Thanks for the thought-provoking post.

I'm really not either or either. I am just reading and watching a lot of this emerging church stuff because I think it is the direction that God is taking my life. I'm not against big churches really, I don't think they are all that effective in our present society. I go to a church , I'm going tonight, but I don't think inside a church building is where the majority of the Kingdom work is being done, that's all. Thanks for the comments
Peace oh yeah, Merry Christmas

"Going to church" is like sitting down to the dinner table. You don't expect to get the lawn mowed (or the garage cleaned), but without the sustenance the tasks will not be accomplished. I define "going to church" as a joining of like-minded worshippers in a communal celebration of beliefs. There's lots more to say here, but that's the gist of it.
