Listening to the song "There Must Be Another Way" by Noa & Mira Awad (from Israel) in the Eurovision 2009 Final, I was deeply touch. A beautiful song, sung in 3 different languages. It's a message for Peace and asking for an understanding to all sides.
The Middle East issue has been on since the end of the 2nd. World War till today. So, what have we gain so far? Only much death and grief on both sides. Hopefully the Israel government and the Knesset as well as the neighbouring Arab countries will spare some time to listen to this song. Please make some major compromises from both sides and please, doing it is not a sign of being weak.
Note: I am writing this article in response to another article "Why are the Jews are so powerful" (by a fellow blogger here) and for the Muslims worldwide to read my opinion as well as suggestion of how we can address the issue of "violent Muslim religionists". These small faction of Muslims when they could not answer a point logically and rationally tend to resort to violent action against those people who perplexed their intellect. I will also be writing a series of articles as a follow-up later in time (I've a full-time job that demands my attention and putting bread on the dinning table) .
To the Muslims worldwide, understand that I do not have the slightest intention of insulting Islam especially the many interpretation or understanding about it in any possible ways but to share my opinions and suggestions.
Muslims have been characterised by some as "brain-dead and blinded people" whose vision of Islam does not extend beyond halal-meats, wearing of the hijab, hajj and some superficial rituals. In everything else, the Muslims appropriate modern knowledge without realising that the epistemology and methodology of modern knowledge and its applications in Muslim societies actually erode an authentic Islamic worldview.
Islamisation or Islamicisation of Knowledge (IOK) is a process of developing and promoting human knowledge which is in harmony with the will of Allah. It is a process of critical evaluation and appreciation as against blind imitation, and a process of sifting, filtering and reconstruction as against a wholesale rejection of Western thought and worldview. IOK is an intellectual activity based on the Islamic concept of tawhid, khilafah, amanah, ibadah, ilmu, wahyu and aqal. These concept constitute the philosophical foundation of IOK.
The term "Islamisation" denotes a process of becoming a Muslim or conversion to Islam according to Professor Muhammed Kamal Hassan while the alternative concept of "Islamicisation" conveys the meaning of making Islam only those elements or dimensions that are NOT in conformity with the dictates of Islam. The idea of Islamisation was discussed and passionately debated by Muslim intellectuals and academician since the last two decades of the century but only little progress has been made in terms of conceptual and operational definitions. There is a consensus among the intellectuals that Islamisation of Knowledge is much more than merely citing the relevant Qur'anic verses or Hadith, for the real challenge lies in articulating the religious textual relevance in conceptual terms rich enough to determine the content and direction of scientific research.
Concepts are the stuff of the mind and figments of fertile imaginations. They are neither true nor false but useful, more or less. Although concepts are conjured and sown by fertile minds, they often fall on a fallow soil. In order to bear fruit, the concept must refer fairly precisely to something that can be observed and measured. The concept “Islamisation”, abinitio, was not defined and operationalised. Likewise, the concept of Islamicisation needs to be properly defined and operationalised. Its key indicators must be clearly singled out to avoid confusion and ambiguity as well as its linkage with the concept of “integration” must be properly spelled out to serve its purpose. Indeed, the Islamisation or Islamicisation of knowledge is incumbent upon those capable of contributing to it.
When I was in Japan recently I had the opportunity to explain about Enicom's participation in Non-Governmental Organization campaigns to make war a punishable crime.
The Japanese had been guilty of perpetrating brutalities during their Manchurian Incident and war against China and also during the Pacific War.
On the other hand they were the only people in the world to experience the first ever nuclear war, of having their citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki reduced to ashes by atomic bombs, with the loss of 200,000 lives and thousands more struck down by radiation sickness later.
For the Japanese the realities of war and the killings have been fully understood from their experience. I believe they can be expected to support a campaign to make war a crime.
I spoke about the horrors of war to three separate groups i.e. the Nikkei Future of Asia Forum, breakfast meeting with the head of Nikkei and his senior staff and before a full audience at the Foreign Correspondent's Club, Tokyo.
While in England in April I was invited by the Ramadan Foundation to speak about the Criminalization of War at the Imperial College in London.
An interesting incident was the attempt by Jewish students to stop me from speaking at the Imperial College because I am regarded as being anti-Semitic. The authorities were embarrassed by this demand and almost decided to stop me.
I was waiting for them to do so. Then I could go there to see if they would stop me. If they did I would be able to say that there is no freedom of speech in England.
However, the authorities decided that only students from the Imperial College would be allowed to attend. Still the hall was full with standing room only.
At all these meetings I was able to explain why war should be regarded as a crime. I pointed out that it is ridiculous to regard murder as a crime punishable with the most extreme penalty yet the deliberate killings of thousands of people, mostly innocent men, women and children are regarded as proper and legal.
There is a contradiction here which does not fit in with human values in a civilized world.
Today trillions of dollars are being expended on the development and production of ever more lethal weapons of mass destruction. Poor countries are forced to buy these weapons by playing on their false sense of pride. They buy these expensive weapons so as not to be less well-equipped than their neighbors. Yet these weapons are often not used at all. Still they have to be upgraded or replaced with newer versions at tremendous cost.
Even back in my small homeland, Malaysia has been drawn into this game. They have just bought two submarines costing over RM3 billion. Not to mention the latest Russian fighter planes with customized modifications. When are they going to use them? Are they contemplating going to war with their neighbors like Singapore or Indonesia? I can think of other ways of spending RM3 billion for Malaysia.
In the drive to advance global domination; huge amount of money from the World Bank, IMF, USAid and other foreign "Aid" organizations are funnel into the coffers of multinational companies and the pockets of a few wealthy families who control the planet's natural resources and trade. Into these multinational companies are posted Economic Hit Men, highly paid professionals whose only task is to cheat countries around the globe trillions of dollars.
Their tools includes fraudulent reports, rigged elections, extortions, payoffs, sex and murder on a new and terrifying dimensions during this time of globalization. Naturally only the top echelon leaders of these multinational companies and banks knows who these professionals are, working in their companies or banks. From whom they received their prime orders and what are the agenda. In return for their "co-operation", the government not only ensures the security of these corporate leaders but should their companies or banks suffers a loss, a bailout is done.
Corporatocracy is the name of the "game". If this does not works, a more malicious form of hit men, the jackal, steps to the template. And if the jackal fails, then the job falls to the military.
One day, God Himself, from way up in the Heavens looked at Earth and He wasn’t exactly that happy to see what is going on. So God said to his Angels, “bring to Me immediately Obama, Putin, Jintao, Osama and Mir because I have something very important to say to them”.
Instantly these people was brought before God. God looks at them and says, “I am not please at all to see what is happening down there. First of all, Earth was a beautiful planet but you people, taking advantage of the word ‘developments and progress’, is destroying Mother Nature. Secondly, I am getting fed-up with the on-going wars and acts of terrorisms. I want you people to stop all of these and I am giving you just 14 days to do something about it because if you don’t, I will destroy the planet”. Obama, Putin, Jintao, Osama and Mir was send back to Earth.
Immediately Obama, Putin, Jintao and Osama calls for an emergency meeting with their most important people. They said, “God is not happy and He is giving us just 14 days to clean up things or else He will destroy our planet”. Naturally everybody was so shocked to hear the news and without wasting much time anymore after the emergency meeting, starts to rectify whatever damages that had been done.
Mir also calls for a meeting with his friends and told them what God had said. “I have 1 bad news and 1 good news. The bad news is that in 14 days time God will destroy our planet. The good news is that we all can forget about our job and the sickening date-lines”. Naturally everybody sat in silence and got pretty scared. “So Mir, what shall we do? 14 days is such a short time given.
He look at them and just smile. “Yes, on my way down from the Heavens I have already pondered upon God’s ultimatum and I know what we can do. Effective from this moment onwards, first of all everybody is given an immediate 3 months salary. Secondly everybody stop working and take a vacation. I don’t know what Obama, Putin, Jintao or Osama is going to do and neither am I concern about it at all. We have only 14 days left and what God has asked for is much too big. So, let’s enjoy ourselves while we still have the time. Those of you who is afraid and can’t take the pressure waiting out for the 14 days, do yourself a favor. Just go to the window and jump. After all, this is the best time for you to learn how to fly, if you can! Me??? I am going fishing!!”
Melayu itu orang yang bijaksana Nakalnya bersulam jenaka Budi bahasanya tidak terkira Kurang ajarnya tetap santun. Jika menipu pun masih bersopan Bila mengampu bijak beralas tangan
Bagaimanakah Melayu abad dua puluh satu Masihkan tunduk tersipu-sipu? Jangan takut melanggar pantang Jika pantang menghalang kemajuan Jangan segan menentang larangan Jika yakin kepada kebolehan Jangan malu mengucapkan keyakinan Jika percaya kepada keadilan Jadilah bangsa yang bijaksana Memegang tali memegang timba Memiliki ekonomi mencipta budaya Menjadi jaguh di persada DUNIA
