Traffic

Drove to Kongsvinger with Dad the other day to pick up a new door for the car, the window was broken and there was something wrong with a mechanism in the door as well, so we figured the best solution was just to get a whole new door, pick it apart, and put some of the parts into our door to fix it. So as Kongsvinger was the only junkyard nearby that had a back left door from on Opel Safira 1999 make, that is where we were off to smile

Any long trip these days has an incoorporated driving lesson, and apart from the stuff in the back rolling around a bit in the sharper curves, it went quite ok smile When we got to the junkyard I sat in the car and listened to a radio broadcast about how horrible child stars usually turn out, especially the ones from Harry Potter. Well well.

Then we drove to the part of the junkyard where all the broken cars were piled up, and this scared me a little. You see all these cars, a lot of them crushed in someplace, many look like something just took a big bite out of one of the front corners of the car. You have exploded airbags all over the place, and think like... wow, people around here certainly get into a lot of car accidents! I wonder how many of these were fatal, I wonder how many were caused by driving too fast, like so many do, or by going for an opening thats too small, like I so often do, or by talking on the phone, like that lady in Kløfta the other day.

The Opel Safira 1999 make at the junkyard had been in some kind of head-on collision, all smashed together in the front, engine missing (i guess that must be one of the first things that goes from a junkyard car). Airbags were out, seats were bent, etc. Looked broken and very deadly. And this being the same kind of car I usually drive got me thinking, this could have been me. I have to be more careful (I am in general extremely careful about driving but I am sure i could go at bit slower in the sharp turns and be more attentive).

So that was quite an eye-opener. I would say if you wanna make an impact on someone to make them drive safer, take them to a junkyard.
