Got the same thing at my new apartment. I think the company in the next building have forgotten to secure their net.

On one hand it's pretty cool....on the other you have to wonder whether it qualifies as theft? bigsmile

True that, true that....although I was reading about how in some countries people call the police when they see random people sitting around laptops and using wireless internet that is not theirs.

Basically it occupies a grey area. Light use like e-mail or chatting really won't hurt anyone but heavy downloading blah blah might upset people.

Coming back to the station, don't places like stations and airports usually provide free internet anyway?

Wow, they do that in some countries?? Eeeek! I guess the police are REALLY bored in those contries. But hey, you sure you don't mean, like if they are doing this outside a government building or something? Like if I stroll up to the pentagon and hack their wireless, I would certainty expect the police to arrive pretty fast.... I could get military secrets and all that. So anywhere were classified information is being kept, I understand that fully. But not in random places like train stations where I don't even know who this net belongs to...

I was just abut to say, that they should provide free internet! Maybe it's not the rules, but sometimes they force people to wait for a few hours, or just half a n hour, if they have to switch trains or something.

I have noticed that they have net you can pay for, though. Like with your credit card, or your skype credit, or your phone. Now I'm never THAT desperate (Except maybe on my way home from vacation.. I remember I payed 60 krs that time, at an internet café... But I was emailing about something IMPORTANT, which i don't do horribly often)

Anyway yes, I didn't download anything. I posted this blogpost (I DID upload a picture though... I guess that takes some... space?.... And I sent an Email. Email would be what I would usually do first.

He he....I think the only thing you'll get if you get too close to the Pentagon is a free bullet!!!

The article I was referring to was from a British newspaper so I imagine this is an ongoing issue there.

Personally, I use the free internet that comes in through my window so maybe I better stop preaching!!! bigsmile

What happen to the cool idea about internet benches???
You could like have a park, with some benched, and they have wire internet, for the laptops that don't have wireless. But then they also have wireless, so all the people can sit around and have a grand time smile

As an alternative they could make the bus schedules small enough to fit in my pocket. I think that is chiefly what I use the internet for when not at home or school.

I think Google does have a plan where they will provide free wireless in parts of San Francisco and other cities. I suppose in time more and more people will do the same. Who knows?

Queen Messyennahoja Tuesday, October 2, 2007 12:20:03 PM

Well, I HOPE, anyways bigsmile
Ain't Starbucks doing the same for all iPhones?
Oh, and burger king as well, for everybody!
